Re: SNOW
Yeah we don't get a lot of it down here Rich but I took a photo of that drift because it was waist deep and made up my mind to turn the car around and go home.

Is there a temperature it gets to and you don't feel a difference? I suppose a lot depends on wind chill.

Re: SNOW
Its all about the windchill mate...when calm, absolutely no wind its fantastic no matter what the air temp... but if you have an air temp of -25C+ and wind over 5kph brrr and high winds can force it down to a windchill of minus 45C+...have to cover all skin and wear ski goggles ...

Re: SNOW
Was reading an article yesterday about the amount of climbers doing Everest and how more dangerous it's become because of the queues to get to the summit, it mentioned about the wind chill .Smudge3920 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 6:30 pm Its all about the windchill mate...when calm, absolutely no wind its fantastic no matter what the air temp... but if you have an air temp of -25C+ and wind over 5kph brrr and high winds can force it down to a windchill of minus 45C+...have to cover all skin and wear ski goggles ...

There was a great series a few years back about it.Smudge3920 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 6:38 pm Saw something similar...its amazing what a business that has become to climb Everest... the eco tree huggers are all over it to the amount of rubbish that is piling up at the sites of those waiting...
The thing that astounded me more than anything was the fact climbers are placing oxygen cylinders they need for the ascent and they were getting stolen.
