Elland Road pitch
Radz and the board should be ashamed to allow our first Prem season in many years to be played on a pitch in that state.
Why is it like that?
It doesnt help our style for a start, in fact it directly hinders it.
Other Prem teams managed to get their pitch in order why didnt we?
Its only going to get worse as well.
Hard enough for our players to play in the Prem, when the pitch negates the system they need to help them it makes it double trouble.
Fix it ffs.

Re: Elland Road pitch
Dreadful, embarrassing.
Jack Grealish was taking the piss out of us earlier on social media.
Graham Potter said in post-match that he is 'used to pitches like this as we recently played Newport' (paraphrasing).
What a shambles from a prem club.
The weather won't have helped but the pitch was dreadful before the snow.
On the bright side, Kinnear has said the pitch is being ripped up and relaid from scratch in the Summer.

Do we employ groundsman nowadays?
Re: Elland Road pitch
Pitch is several years overdue for replacement, isn't it?
Was going to be done last summer, but there wasn't time due to the extended season.

It’s a disgrace and it does impact on our play. On the other hand, I wouldn’t like to see it being used too often as an excuse to cover all of our current deficiencies.

Covid caught us out unfortunately ..no blame to be assigned

Interesting point and no doubt it would be better if not for covid.
Having said that, all the other teams in the PL have managed to adequately maintain their pitch in the circumstances.
No doubt due a refurb.

If not for Covid, season ends as planned, we get a new pitch laid, get a proper pre season in.

Re: Elland Road pitch
Blaming the pitch is just an excuse. It’s the same for both teams.

Re: Elland Road pitch
25 years since a full reconstruction, 7 years since the playing surface was relaid. Kinnear says it needs to be done, was on the list for the summer but takes 14 weeks and there wasn't enough time due to the Covid affected break.
They have spent a lot of time on it over recent weeks, the orange glow around Beeston evidence to the fact that the lights have been on it a lot but the weather over the past week and a half in Leeds has been atrocious and must have set them back a fair way.

Re: Elland Road pitch
But don't forget, if it wasn't for covid, we'd still be in the Championship with another manager, one that would be a major upgrade on what we have because the last one failed and we'd all be praying this would be the year we got to the promised land, proclaiming the first season up, as long as we finish 17th or above it would be a great achievement with the squad we have, there's no way there would we get folk going over the top moaning after a couple of bad performances as long as we could get to 12th, 15 points from safety and the season not even half way over yet. Oh for those heady days

Are you sure this wasn't taken yesterday and just photoshopped the players and crowd in before turning to black and white?Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 7:49 pm Blaming the pitch is just an excuse. It’s the same for both teams.

It's worth remembering that the grass is not always greener.

100% and would never blame that for the awful performance.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 7:49 pm Blaming the pitch is just an excuse. It’s the same for both teams.
It is embarrassing though.

Re: Elland Road pitch
Grounds that have the spectating area close top the pitch can struggle to dry out as there isn't as much room for air to circulate.
That along with the short season which prevented the work being carried out hasn't helped. Plus games played when the weather has been atrocious has cut it up too. We have saw players slip on the surface all season, but yesterday was a disgrace. Then the sprinklers were on at Half time!
The fact that there has been far fewer games played on it --- no U23s games this season would have I thought helped the groundmen to keep on top of things.
Thorp Arch any one?

Re: Elland Road pitch
Why are Radz and the board to blame for the state of the pitch ? What do they do ? Import sunlight from the southern hemisphere. ? The pitch was due to be relaid last summer. Not too much can be done until the weather improves.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:53 pm Radz and the board should be ashamed to allow our first Prem season in many years to be played on a pitch in that state.
