Leeds United's Five Worst Defeats

Post by YorkshireSquare »

After last weekends Crawley debacle, Marcelo Bielsa described the game as Leeds United's 'fifth-worst loss'. So my question to you is, which four defeats were worse? Would you have any of the games below in that list?

Histon 1-0, 2008
Sutton 1-0, 2017
Newport 2-1, 2018
Colchester 3-2, 1971
Sunderland 1-0, 1973
Stoke City 8-1, 1934
Arsenal 7-0, 1979
West Ham, 7-0, 1966

I forget losses about a day after they've occurred...

All 3 of these in fairly recent memory and all of them incredibly embarrassing.

That day at Histon...

The enduring memory of this one was Gary McAllister trying to disappear into his coat . Bad bad day........as we're the other two and Crawley . Bristol City in 70's also springs to mind .

Early round cup exits are meaningless and soon forgotten.
But losing to Sunderland in the 73 final was heartbreaking and will haunt me to the grave.
Totally ruined that Saturday night at the Mecca, Bradford!

Crawley (pathetic)
Histon
Colchester
Stoke (7-2) 1986
Ken Bates - defeatist mentality in allowing the piece of scum to reign at the club for so long.
