When you played...What positions did you play?
School/Youth ...alternated between inside right and right half...(as you can see I am using old money terminology )
20's...Inside right, center forward and Right half.
30 to 35...Right half
35 to 41...Full back and 12th man

Primary school . I fancied my chances as a goalkeeper and had a Gary Sprake top which I managed to save enough pocket money to buy after I saw it in Shoot ! magazine . I wasn’t very good . Made a number of howlers which most of my friends blamed on the Sprake top rather than me .
Junior School 1st 11 Left Wing . Scored a few goals but had to give it up because the school only played Rugby from 13 years old . Then I moved schools and they did play football .
Senior School . 2nd 11 . Left back . We were coached by our history teacher who also played for Wycombe Wanderers .
After I left school I never play again ( except once about 10 years ago in a works 5 a side tournament at Crawley Town . Nearly bloody killed me ! )

In proper 11 a side games, I was right back. Ayling, without the ability, tenacity and man bun...

All through schooldays - Striker. Top scored in every season.
Uni - Outside Flanker - All our house played Union, so I joined in. Last two years trialled for the football team - and they put me at Right Back. Top scored from there as well.
Late 20's - Still at right back, but pace was going. 2nd top goalscorer in Sunday League for 6 seasons. Occasional game at striker and centre half.
Late 30's - Beer and food getting the better of me, so I went in goal. Didn't score any goals, but conceded a lot. Retired age 39, and missed it every day since.

School - Right or Left Back
For the RAF DM, Full back or winger
Pub Teams DM but for a while I played for Brains Brewery's Old Boys started Right Midfield but ended up CB as I was the only one in the team who could head a ball

I've played right wing and forward when younger, and also defensive midfielder on and off, but for the last dozen or so years have been at the back, mostly as a right sided centre-half (but in 7-aside, which is common in the States), I've played any of the back three positions. Was playing on two teams right up to Covid but haven't played for nearly a year now. Not sure will I ever see a footy field again

Then didn't play until around when I was 20 where I was mainly LB. sweeper or defensive centre mid a few times.
Retired through injury at 29.

Once played CB and got MOTM, we lost 15-0 at u13s level (half the team was playing rugby that day
)
Ps, I really was good at crossing the ball, and at pace, and it annoys me more than anything else when professionals can’t do it.

My junior high team won an age-group national title and we were rewarded with two games against a Scottish team that was touring the US. I walked into our gymnasium the day they arrived and sat for a half hour and watched as they played volleyball without using their hands. I turned to my friend and said, "We are in some serious trouble."
Our superior size and speed kept the scores respectable, and we managed a single goal in both games, but that was about it. They dominated us.

Never kicked a football in my life until I was about 45. Got roped into staff 5 a side after school on a Friday, as a precursor to going to the pub. I generally ran about like a headless chicken, getting in everyone's way, but one day I somehow managed to score four goals. Never happened before or since.
