Regardless of which you prefer, rugby league is League and rugby union is Rugby ;-)

Union has become far to stop start in recent years, I prefer the more physical nature of league and the pace of the game.
Rhinos squad has improved, hopefully they manage to cope up the middle with physical stuff.

RU guys are generally reckoned to be the fittest athletes on earth and one of the reasons is their mauls and the fact that their scrums are real, not just a joke and a tap-in. Having said that, RL is often a less messy game, with no mauls and sprawling scrums, so make of it what you will.
For the record, my Debbie always did prefer RL.

Me - I played RU at school (prop or lock forward) and it is a hard sport - you need great fitness and strength, but it doesn't always make for an attractive game. At its best there is no better feeling than scoring a try or stopping the other lot with a well-timed tackle, but I have to admit the RL game is a less messy overall game.

I used to prefer watching Union - probably because that was the rugby sport in South Africa where I grew up.

But I now enjoy it a lots less and prefer watching League.

They are both good to watch, but Union confuses me nowadays. Scrums really piss me off nowadays. Too many times the scrum half just stands there waiting for an infringement that will lead to a penalty rather than feeding the scrum. There should be a time limit for the feed.

Born in Headingley, Rugby League was the first live sport I watched as a kid back in 1961, a regular attendee during the early noughties, had a season-ticket for one year.

Looking forward to the new season

Come on the Rhinos :scar1

I played RL and fortunately retired the last year of the 5 yard rule at play-the-ball. When it moved 10 yards it became truly brutal.
Sam Burgess who played both codes at International level said that League took him somewhere else physically compared to Union.
Both games are tough in their own ways but I much more enjoy watching the non stop element of League over Union.
Really looking forward to the Rugby World Cup and watching some at Elland Road in the Autumn.
Both semifinals of the Woman's RL World Cup are going to be played on the same day at the new York City and York Knights stadium where I live, so can't wait to see those games.

I knew someone who played for Hunslet Smudge but that would have been late 1980's...

I was really miffed when Hunslet played at Elland Road, they camped out down the far end of the west car park near to the grounds men's store room. I think it was the fact that when I went to games I wanted to see the Leeds Utd badge everywhere NOT the Hunslet badge! Also, they wrecked our pitch....
