That's a good question. I only use the word inconsistent because Bielsa did but maybe the meaning's been lost in translation? Maybe the quality through the squad is the inconsistent thing?

On reflection, I think this conversation has gone off on a bit of a wrong tangent. Why is it being framed as a choice?
My thoughts exactly. The focus is on improving the team. Doing that will advance both goals as it means adding both the quality and the depth required.

Winners of the Europa League will wing between 13 & 15mill euros which (based on this years prize money).
That of course doesn't take into account gate receipts for the extra games and increased sponsorship, its purely prize money.

The winner of the tournament could walk away with upto €13- 15 million as prize money.

Position Prize Money
Winners € 8,500,000
Runners-up € 4,500,000
Semi-finalists € 2,4,00,000
Quarter-finalists € 1,500,000
Round of 16 € 1,100,000
Round of 32 € 500,000
Group winners € 1,000,000
Group runners-up € 500,000
Group match draw € 190,000
Group match victory € 570,000
Play-off round elimination € 300,000
Third qualifying round € 280,000
Second qualifying round € 260,000
First qualifying round € 240,000
Preliminary round € 220,000

However if say we sneaked into Europe it would likely be the new Europa Conference so would expect less.

Build a bit of depth with 2 or 3 correct signings, odd youth player breaking through and Europe should be our next target but not this season. Ideal world we qualify and strengthen again before competing in Europe.

Still don't get to pick these things and it'll be a case of take it when it comes, lets face it not so long ago a lot of older fans like me were thinking we'll never see our team in Europe again. At least now we can dream.

Not sure but suspect they could be, doubt we will see them though.

Did read the other day that MB has been very impressed with McCalmont (apparently he watches recordings of all our loan players) and is considering another loan but to a higher league than league 2 (poss Championship) as the next stage of his development.

Does that include TV money?

It's in there.

In fact the payments will be reduced fir the next 5 years due to the pandemic.

I think Robbie Gotts has done well at Salford as well but again it's League 2.
He needs a Championship loan.

Richard Keogh awarded £2.3m in breach of contract case against Derby
Keogh sacked in 2019 after being injured in car crash
Contract was worth a basic £24,000 a week plus bonuses

Richard Keogh has secured a payout of about £2.3m from Derby after winning his long-running compensation claim against the club. The 34-year-old defender, who finished the season at Huddersfield, brought an action for breach of contract in the wake of his sacking by Derby in October 2019.

Keogh had sustained serious knee ligament injuries when he was in the car that his then teammate Tom Lawrence crashed into a lamppost after a night out in September of that year. He was dismissed by Derby for gross misconduct. His contract with them, worth a basic £24,000 a week plus bonuses, was due to run until June 2021.

Some of the lads will unfortunately be let go at the end of this season.

I don’t see a future at the club for the likes of Edmondson, Hosannah... Gotts is a good player but has men in front of him.

I don’t see much point in us becoming a club that has players of the calibre of Matthew Pennington, Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker on the books when they’re closer to 30 than 20.

Doesn’t make sense for us or the player.

I wonder what does cause a breech of contract then.

I think the fact Keogh was just a passenger and Derby didn't sack the other 2 players showed that Derby's motive in sacking Keogh was purely financial (the other 2 being considerably younger and having value in the transfer market).

Well that would explain it, they should have fired all three imo... You may not be driving drunk but you got into a car with a drunk driver and that is as bad ...
