Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said he is in "angry mode" as the Blues prepare for "two finals" against Leicester City in the space of four days.

Tuchel's side face Leicester in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.

Chelsea, who are fourth in the Premier League, then host the third-placed Foxes on Tuesday in a key game in the race to secure a top-four finish.

"These are two finals and we do not think about anything else," said Tuchel.

"It's the final of the cup and the final for the top four."

Mr Tuchel will be unaware in 1972 Leeds were forced to play an important league league match at Molineux (needing a point to clinch the League Title) two days after winning a FA Cup Final at Wembley.

After a sapping game on a muddy Wembley pitch v Chelsea in 1970, Leeds played the 2nd leg of the European Cup Semi-final v Celtic four days later.

Of course clubs didn't have the luxury of huge squads & endless substitutions then.

How great is Tuchel?

Chelsea were totally under-performing when Fwank was at the helm.

To think if Chelsea had retained Fwank they wouldn't have made it to the CL Final let alone win it so impressively.

I was reading an interview in the papers with Tuchel. After being released from FC Augsburg's academy at the age of 19 he went around local restaurants asking them whether they needed a waiter, which he ended up doing for a while. How different to today's young players !

Not fussed that Chelsea won and its amusing that it makes Frank look more inept but officially now Chelsea are the best side in Europe.

They plainly arent.

Does anyone else think this highlights a fundamental issue with the Champions League format?

Champions League , the clue is in the title.

Only league Champions should be in it, something Chelsea havent been for a good few years.

For me the Champions League should only contains league winners.

Then the Europa League would be for say the next 3 or 4 teams.

By letting so many teams into the Champions league it dilutes the meaning imo.

That's how it use to be in the European Cup a few decades ago Cjay

The European Cup Winners was for the FA Cup winners.

Then there was the Inter-Cities Fairs Cu pwith teams now qualifying based on league position.
