Plus - Rodrigo's captain like performance

Minus - Ref let them get away with too much, that was a late challenge on Raph
Best 11, everyone fit - Meslier - Ayling - Dallas - Koch - Struijk - Phillips - Forshaw - Raphinha - James - Roberts - Gelhardt

Positive - The Kids
Negative - Raphinha injury.

I hope it gets looked at retrospectively and Saiss gets banned, he wasn’t carded at the time I don’t think?

+ even with Kp, Bamford, Ayling and Firpo missing the old team spirit had returned, perhaps Marcelo can get the best out of an 18 man squad.

Positive: Gelhardt and Summerville. Both ran Wolves ragged
Negative: Until the kids came on still not creating enough even with the lions share of the possession.

I will start with the negative - Our game is based upon having a dynamic transition from defence to attack. This can be devastating against teams who commit players forward. Last year that was the case on a regular basis. We were still punished by the better teams with this approach who have quality all over the park to combat that.
This season the teams which we have the ability to take apart have learned not to commit too many players forward and play on the break in the knowledge that we often have a mistake in us at the back, which can be taken advantage of. If they capitalise on this they can sit back and look to punish us on the break.
We lack the craft to break down teams who sit back without all our best players on the pitch and then it is not a granted we will score if Raphinia does not produce a bit of magic.
Klich is ineffective under these conditions, he does not have the game or fortitude to make a difference, but he is not alone in that situation. Roberts has the potential because technically he is good on the ball and knows how to create a yard of space, but thus far does not display the craft or intelligence to take advantage of that. Harrison wears his heart on his sleeve and if he makes a mistake, which is occurring regularly he appears to let it effect him to such a degree he loses his head and his game just goes to pot.
There are also a few players not maintaining the standards they set last year - Dallas and to some degree Ayling.
It is unlikely we have the ability to sign a player to change this before the end of the season. Therefore we rally do need to score first against the sides we are expected to get a result against. If we don’t there will be plenty more games of this nature this season.

The positives - Gelhardt, Summerville and Cooper. The aforementioned got sufficient time on the pitch to make a difference. I do not think they will start a game in the near future (other than cup ties) unless injuries leave no other option. Bielsa is on the same page as Guardiola in terms of phased introduction. You only have to consider Foden and the kid who scored this week for Citeh in the Champions league to understand their methods. Shackleton is also an example.
But at least it augurs well to know we do have potential game changers on the bench if needed. I believe MB will not be as reluctant to make the necessary change early doors if the usual suspects continue to under deliver.

I thought Cooper was fantastic today. I know he has mistake in him, but he has the ability to make last ditch blocks and tackles to prevent a goal on a far more regular basis. Take away that propensity for a lapse in concentration and he would be a top 6 premiership defender.

The Saiss tackle on Raphinia was a shocker, it Raph hadn’t miscontrolled the ball and effectively played it into his body rather than knocked it past him it would have been a straight red. Because it looked like he had won the ball it saved him.

Yes, the ref probably would have seen it in that way but VAR or the lino must have had a word so he booked him.
Had he gone to the screen, he might’ve shown a red 🤔

Positive -plenty to choose from for once Gelhardt, caused wolves panic and forced a mistake. Hopefully could be very important for us this season and in the coming years.

Negative - again a few to choose from but going with the poor form of our experienced players namely Klich and Harrison.

I prefer the dissenting voice that speaks out against the mass hysteria of the mindless mass formation.
