Is Europe possible?

Post by Mountain »

It's just that, for weeks I've read so many posts here about the inevitability of relegation and the sky falling in.

But then I see the table and we're as near the top 6 as the bottom 3, we've drawn away with the team that was in 8th and just beaten a Palace side that everyone praised...but they're only a point ahead of us. And we've the 4th highest scorer in the top flight recovering from injury.

Is a tilt at the Europa League possible?

Why not? We know we'll go on a run at some point and tonight we saw what's possible with Firpo and James down the left. How much better did James look once Firpo came on? Forshaw outplayed Gallagher tonight, Kalvin will get back in the swing. Raph is a game breaker on imperious form tonight.

We have a tough run of 4 where we could get f**k all but after that we're going downhill the rest of the season..

No!

Gutsy performance tonight and delighted with the win. But let’s face it, it’s only Crystal Palace and even with home advantage was still pretty uncomfortable for the most part and, in truth, could have gone either way. Anything’s possible Mountain but, at the moment, I’m still only looking to stay out of the bottom 3 this season.

Very good point Mountain, and we could dream. I still think we have enough to finish upper bottom-half and should we sneak a few wins between now and New Year, maybe the impossible will be possible?

Ironically, to think that Europe is possible now would probably prevent us from making the changes that are necessary to ensure that we are somewhere near the top ten by the end of the season.

We still need a replacement for Klich, cover for Philips, cover for Meslier and a striker that can score goals (or cover for Bamford should he hit the ground running) seeing as we aren’t going to see if Gelhardt is the solution.

Let's not get carried away were a million miles from top 6. It would have ended up goaless last night if it hadn't been for Cooper. So imo top 6 not likely

Ask again after we've played Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Still at least a couple of players short of challenging for a top 6.

The only way this squad will get a sniff of Europe
Is a trip to holy island,
I hope they don't cross when the tides coming in otherwise the team will have to spend 12 hours up one of the safety poles :duno:

More than likely going to lose at least 4 of the next 5 so we'll be back down the bottom 3 by then anyway . Europe....

Europe is possible if we update our sat-nav.
I will be happy 7th from bottom at the moment ne'er mind 7th from top, anyhow, we simply don't have the squad for a tilt in a European competition.

Theoretically yes

Realistically of course it isnt

Presumably this is a thread for positivity not a serious suggestion?
