We have horses, pigs, cows & sheep around us.

Those horse fly bites are brutal, mate.

Apparently, they're not allowed to advertise it as an insect repellent because it hasn't jumped through the required 'science' hoops... but anyone who spends any time near water knows that it works.

Oh, well done! That's another thing I've tried and failed to learn properly. Very useful skills to have.

Talking of languages, my daughter is doing Spanish for GCSE and we have discovered an app called Duolingo. It's great for learning the basics, though I don't think it alone would make you fluent. Always thought having a second language would be a very useful life skill, and Spanish is, I believe, the third most spoken language on earth. The hope is I'll never have to speak English loudly and slowly to a Spanish waiter again!!

I speak a few languages, but it's English folk very often ask me to repeat what I've said, something to do with my Yorkshire accent.
When I'm abroad, it's common to hear the locals talking about us, not knowing I to listen what they say, Arabic has been very uselful over t' years.

Does this mean we can just randomly go off topic at a tangent and won't get a bollocking !!
