Arsenal 4-1 Leeds Utd - Post Match Debate

Saturday 1st March 3:00pm | Emirates Stadium

Leeds are the visitors to league leaders Arsenal at the weekend, as Javi Gracia looks to build on his decent start as interim Manager of Yorkshire's finest. Two wins, a draw and a defeat in their last four games has seen them climb to the dizzy heights of 14th, but with just three points separating them from basement club Southampton, he will be desperate to keep their good run going. That will be far from easy, against a club, eight points clear of second placed Manchester City.

With less than two months between now and the end of the season, its fair to assume Tyler Adams season is over. The 24 year old went under the surgeons knife earlier this week to repair a grade three hamstring tear. Fortunately, they have a ready made replacement in Weston McKennie, who will play alongside Marc Roca.

Wilfred Gnonto and Max Wober picked up knocks whilst on International duty, both are out of the trip to North London meaning Javi Gracia rings the changes. Captain Liam Cooper may have been hoping to slot in for Max Wober but he has to make do with a place on the bench. Ayling, Koch, Kristensen, Struijk and Firpo all start. Could it be a back five for Leeds or will Struijk or Kristensen slot into midfield alongside Marc Roca. Weston McKennie starts on the bench having revealed he wasnt 100% during the international break. Summerville, Aaronson, Harrison and Sinisterra also start with no recognised striker. Rodrido, Bamford and Rutter all make the bench.

The Gunners have injury concerns of their own. Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu have both recently undergone surgery, and are unlikely to play again this season; whilst William Saliba (back) Thomas Partey (knock), Eddie Nketiah (ankle) and Kieran Tierney (calf) are also likely to sit this one out.

They are the four teams in London we've beaten in the last seven years, Jay.

The last time we ruined Arsenal's title hopes in 1999.

The downside was scum drew at Blackburn to win the Premier League by a point.

Miracle required to get anything from this game especially with our ever growing injury list

We can get someting out of this, we're not weakened too much with the injuries

We could  Wober is a massive absentee, though.

Backs against the wall time, I trust Gracia far more than I did Marsch to get the tactics right.

Sounds defeatist I know, but a narrow defeat wouldn’t be a disaster given our reasonable goal difference compared to those around us.

If Coops starts against Arsenal, Javi will be the 11th Leeds coach he's played under since Liam joined the Whites in 2014.

We don't know that. Depends who replaces him. Gracia is getting the defence well marshalled, if Coop comes in we're getting a good back up who plays well out of defence. I'd worry more if it's Ayling and Koch moved left

Cooper for me, never happy with Ayling as a CB, it's unnecessarily changing two defensive positions as opposed to one.

Cooper was fit enough to be in the Scotland squad so I'm pretty sure Javi will start him. The other option is Pascal but I think it will be Cooper for his experience/leadership.
