Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thursday 25th May) Medical team to patch up Rodrigo as best they can

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Thursday 25th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Medical team to patch up Rodrigo as best they can

The Thorp Arch medical team face a race against time to patch up Rodrigo, as best they can, as Leeds prepare for their most important game, since their season finale this time last season. It has been established that he has been suffering from a plantar fascia injury, the same ailment that kept strike partner Bamford, sidelined for much of last season. Without any other recognised forwards in their squad, they will have to make do.

Not many teams are offered a last minute reprieve; let alone two seasons in a row. Lady luck will have to work overtime to unravel this mess. You'd think Leeds would have learnt by their mistakes, alas - wishful thinking. They have been screaming out for a top class striker for several seasons now, and whilst they continue to be linked with all and sundry, their striking options remain, just Rodrigo and Bamford.

Big Sam highlighted the clubs' lack of striking options, during his post match presser last weekend, and although making a rod for his own back, is 100% right in his assessment. They continue to wheel Bamford on and off the pitch whenever they can, yet both his stats, and his fitness levels are truly awful. In just over 1500 minutes of game time (this season), he has racked up a pathetic 'Whoscored' appraisal of just 6.36, placing his 22nd in the squad. Only Greenwood, Forshaw and Rutter have worse records (as far as the Senior players are concerned).

Should Rutter be given the nod

With Bamford sidelined, and Rodrigo struggling with a foot injury, do Leeds need to gamble on Georginio Rutter against Spurs on Sunday? The 21 year old record signing has been less than impressive since his arrival in January, but could have a chance to redeem himself, should he manage to help the Whites maintain their Premie League status.

Whoscored have given the Frenchman a rating of 6.19, placing him 26th in the rankings. He also has the worst pass rate for any outfield player in the entire squad, but needs must. Perhaps Gelhardt, fresh from his spell with Sunderland, could get an opportunity?

Rutter - yes, why not especially if Rods and Bamford injured. Would make his 35m look better value if he bagged a hatrick and miraculously kept us up.

Joffy - put him up front with Rutter and see what happens. At least if he's match fit.

We literally have nothing to lose as it's all gone already!

Morning EB et all,

So this weekend we must win to have any chance of staying up, but only if Everton loose or draw and we can better their their goal difference a swing of 4 currently, plus Leicester do no better than draw.

That said we have our two main strikers carrying injuries (no change there then) so why not give Rutter, Joffy, Joseph a run out from the start or a combination of those, IMO its a better option than putting injured players on the pitch.

So plantar fasciitis again to both our higher than average mileage covering strikers . Mmmmm, makes me wonder. A major cause of PF is repetitive high impact activity. Mmmmm.

You mean like running? I wouldn't have said that Rodrigo was a higher than average mileage covering striker.
Gracia? Thanks for nothing.

I don’t think Joffy can play for Leeds this season? And Joseph is away with England.

Rodrigo.

If he us suffering with Plantar fasciitis of course he shouldn't start. I've had it and it hurts like hell.

He isn't the most mobile at the best of times.

He'd be a statue with that providing next to nothing.

Rutter should start but he won't because Sam won't play him for whatever reason it seems.

Will reflect badly on Allardyce if he starts Rodrigo in that state

But he doesn't care so

Rodrigo has been playing, whilst injury to his Plantar fasciitis. I don't know for how long, but it might explain why he was only used from the bench under Gracia's management.

It's pointless playing injured players, they won't last nor be able fully commit, even with painkilling injections and strapping, the risk is too high for that injury to get even worse.

I bet Rodrigo would be willing to play but personally his season like ours is over, I doubt if he'll play for us again.

Another win is not coming this weekend regardless of what they do to Rodrigo. this teams race was run weeks ago. I dont judge the players on what they say, rather what they do and they have shown no capability or aptitude to win matches for weeks. I have some sympathy as they have been through a lot this season for an owner who doesn't seem to give a s**t.
