Re: Next Manager poll
Was tempted to leave out people like Rodgers and Potter.
Because they do seem unrealistic atm.
Maybe should do that and take it people would like Potter and Rodgers but who else

Re: Next Manager poll
I voted Rodgers and don't see him as unrealistic. That would be like removing Wilkinson from a fan vote in 1988. And, obviously, Bielsa was an unrealistic appointment, until we started talking to him.
Here's a suggestion. Let people vote. And if you don't like the most popular vote, remove that name from the poll.

Just thought it would be more interesting poll without the more ambitious/unrealistic names.
At the moment both Potter and Rodgers are unlikely to say the least, Phil has said as much.
I could leave them in if people want? Don't matter to me

We know people would like Rodgers or Potter we don't need a poll for that
But who else?

Re: Next Manager poll-
Heard a good point of Steven Gerrard today
Villa were below us when he got fired. So theoretically, Jesse Marsch was doing better than Gerrard

Re: Next Manager poll-
Voted for Rodgers, he is a proven Manager and ticks most of the boxes in my view. Don't think we have much chance of getting him though. People like Parker and Farke seem too light weight for me, OK they have done well getting teams out of the Championship, but once they get into the Premier league they seem lost. Not impressed with Vierra either, did not do much at Palace, Roy Hodgson certainly improved things there.
Re: Next Manager poll-
All a bit pointless for me then.
1st choice - Bert.
2nd choice - Possibly Rodgers after the squad has had an axe taken to it and we see what is left to work with.
We're in a right old fcking state innit.

Re: Next Manager poll-
f**king hell Cjay , don’t fall for it again mate
It should actually be a very short list and not include people who it actually won’t be like Bielsa. He’s got a f**king job man. Get a grip.
That’s not aimed at you Cjay or bloody Clay or whatever name you go by these days

Re: Next Manager poll-
On the basis that we are not an attractive proposition for many out of work managers, I would go for Farke or Rodgers ( but can't see him being interested)......so it's Farke for me.

Every list seems to include somebody I have to Google because I've never heard of him.
Fabian Hurzeler ??
It was Regis le Bris yesterday, and I've forgotten already where he is

KK but would have also gone for Iraola if he was on the list. Wouldn't rule Iraola out based on us being a championship side ashe has only recently had the opportunity to work at the top level so might see it still as a stepping stone as if he got Leeds promoted he would be managing a bigger club than Rayo in a top flight league.
I thought the answer was a porcupine but it turned out to be Old Trafford....

Well reasoned re Iraola but I just don’t see it unfortunately. No chance on KK.weasel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 8:12 pm KK but would have also gone for Iraola if he was on the list. I’m actually hoping for Farke. In a straight fight between the market top 3 it’s a no brainer.

Don’t know much about several options so voted for Potter.
I always hated the sight of him when playing against his sides but harboured a grudging underlying respect.
And his nephew’s a wizard. Obviously.

Re: Next Manager poll-
Does the Farke odds dropping today mean that Webber is coming in as DOF?
Would be a logical link. Webber been part of discussion for the past couple of weeks. Possible that the new owners have been talking to him behind the scenes

Re: Next Manager poll-
I'm hoping we're going to see a lotof ambition from the new board. And that means that several unrealistic coaches will now be realistic. Like I said further up, Wilkinson and Bielsa both dropped to lower tiers than their earned reputations.weasel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 8:12 pm KK but would have also gone for Iraola if he was on the list. I also think back to teams like Blackburn when they made Dalglish manager and started buying players like Shearer.
We know the board wants an immediate bounce. So let's hope they're going all in to make it happen. And hence, getting us a higher calibre than a championship coach.
Which is why I voted for Rodgers
