Bump this, I think.

Why would any Leeds fan wish to miss out on this atmospheric pleasure?

The atmosphere ain't a patch on what it was like back in the seventies and eighties before the seat's went in
49/50 thousand in them days , hooliganism was rife, running battles everywhere, away fans got a decent allocation of tickets
European nights under the floodlights, thousands locked outside, gates locked before kick off , different gravy back.then

Wish i could jump in my time traveler.
Still being proven right years on.
Radz is a businessman - and knows nowt about football.
Orta is a fraud - and knows nowt about footballers.
Bert - A footballing mastermind that they both got lucky with, end of.

Were you at the Sunderland cup game back in 1967 Geronimo, when 57,892 crammed into the Elland Road stadium.

I wasn’t. Couldn’t get in despite queuing outside the Lowfields for 2 hours. Mind you, around where I would have stood was where the barrier collapsed. Lucky escape.

Now I was there that day, in the Shed, but as all the goal action took place in front of the old Kop and I was nobut a wee nipper I didn’t see much.

Before the game I managed to swap 3 scarves for one of the silky scarves Rangers and Celtic had back then. Wish I’d kept it, it would be priceless today.

Totally agree. As they say though, nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.

It was the old kop as well, a banking more like, and named as you probably know after the "spion kop" or Spioen kop during the boer war.
Silk scarves, now theres a great throw back.

The wall collapsed at the front of the Lowfields, more or less on the halfway line.

I was in the kop, stood on one of the concrete blocks cementing the barriers, only way I could see the action as a 13yo, hence the reason we used to be there as the turnstiles opened.

As was the Celtic game in 1970, even though we lost.

I loved the European cup nights then & in the early 2000s too.

That was the days when us kids would pretend to be hard and wear scarves ‘stolen’ from other fans on their wrists as trophies. The three I swapped were West Ham, Newcastle and a Liverpool one, complete with Liver bird badge sewn on.

Got my scarves from a market stall in Cas.

I only knew the Lowfields back then, that was where I would go with my mate and his dad. Didn’t discover the Shed til the season after when we went without said parent.

Never went on the old kop, no weather protection.

I Remember the two fa cup games against man city down here mid to late seventies, absolute carnage , the fans in the kop trying to invade the pitch to get the game stopped , McQueen and Harvey fighting in the penalty area ,, man city brought thousands down that day
The following year we drew them again and beat them with a late Trevor cherry goal

I was home on leave then, went in kop, got a black eye for my troubles, some United fan was dishing haymakers out to anyone in his vicinity and I (no pun) copped for one.
