Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 11th April) Somebody needs to be held accountable for JKA fiasco

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 12th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Somebody needs to be held accountable for JKA fiasco

The Jean-Kevin Augustin saga is finally over (assuming he doesn't make any further demands) after Leeds withdrew their appeal against the £24.5m compensation claim. It has been suggested that a compromise has been reached after the former French U21 International took legal action against the Whites for recoup the entirety of his £93,000 per week five year contract, not to mention a £2.5m signing on fee.

It's a costly mistake that when all said and done is likely to have cost Leeds £40m, but who's to blame? Leeds tried to wriggle out of their obligation to buy him by suggesting the time constraints within the contract extending beyond the dates stipulated, due to Covid. Why didn't Leeds carry out due diligence? Data readily available from Whoscored even suggested he wasn't fit! At the time, he was on loan at Monaco, who were 26 games into their season.

JKA had 260 minutes of game time under his belt, and an average rating of just 6.15, placing him 22nd in their squad, yet Leeds went to incredible lengths to bring him to Elland Road, including laying on a private jet to Bradford airport to prevent Manchester United from swooping for him, and a personal plea from Bielsa to convince him to sign for the Whites.

I can't help thinking that if Bielsa had treated Eddie Nketiah better, Arsenal wouldn't have terminated his loan, and there would have been no need to sign him in the first place.

By the time JKA signed, there were only a few days left of the Winter transfer window and Leeds were desperate for a striker. For much of January, Che Adams was top choice, but Southampton refused to sell him. Even though Leeds were told 'no', they continued to waste several weeks pursuing the Scottish International until the Saints refused to take their calls.

Although Angus Kinnear, Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani have to shoulder much of the blame, Bielsa too must take some flack for agreeing to take the player in the first place. It has been well documented in the past that transfer discussions between Orta and Bielsa got very heated as the Argentine would have the final say. The only player Orta bought in (which Bielsa relented on), was Diego Llorente

Leeds tried to distance themselves from their obligation to buy, by claiming no responsibility for JKA, and effectively made him club-less. This allowed him to join Nantes as a free agent. The club were advised very badly. They were never going to wriggle out of the contract on a technicality, and became more of a laughing stock as the saga continued.

They could have got him fit, and at least recouped some of the £18m they shelled out for him, but decided to gamble, which made a bad situation, a lot lot worse!

What impact will Compensation claim have on FFP

Should Leeds fail to get promoted this season and the odds on automatic are diminishing at the moment even with a 1xbet promo code on offer. They face an almost impossible task of staying within financial fair play remit. Clubs relegated from the Premier League are allowed to make losses of up to £35m, but next season, Leeds will need to cut their cloth accordingly. Championship outfits are only permitted to lose £13m per season (£39m over the three season cycle), and although parachute monies will soften the load, drastic changes would need to be made during the Summer! It would almost certainly mean Archie Gray, Ethan Ampadu, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter leaving the club in a bid to balance the books at Elland Road.

It is difficult to exactly calculate how much of the liability will affect our accounts. Even though we have agreed to pay the fee it is dependent on how the matter is settled. This liability is from 4 years ago. Some canny accounting may prevent the full sum applying to a 12 month accounting period.

The whole JKA saga is one huge embarrassing fiasco and will go down as one of the biggest transfer blunders in footballing history.
Pay him and let's move on from that sorry state of affairs.

Many people are accountable for the JKA farce.

Radz as the owner.
Kinnear as the Chief Executive
Orta as the DOF
Bielsa as the manager.

None of them are innocent.

Nobody forced JKA on MB (same as they wouldn't Aaronson who himself confirmed Bielsa was keen on him).

It baffles me though how Angus Kinnear just is allowed to carry on as normal.

The loan fiasco.

The Chief Executive being still in place after overseeing one of the worst transfers in history (and basically being called a useless witness in court).

Costing the business he runs day to day tens of millions of pounds.

Overseeing it's relegation costing it tens of millions of pounds more.

And he's still here earning an absolute fortune.

He must kiss ass amazingly

You assign a small amount of blame on Bielsa, but should be only for selecting a player that didn't make the grade. Every manager makes a bad hiring choice from time to time.

The major blame comes from the leadership of the club (Radz / Kinnear / Orta) for being shambolic in negotiating and understanding the terms of a contract they argreed. This is singularly a commercial failure of massive proportions. That is where the blame lays. Only one of them is actually left at the club. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when that was discussed between the 49ers and Kinnear.

FFS don't blame bielsa for anything, the forum will go into meltdown, you do realise is totally exonarated from absolutely anything and everything .
I too think kinnear ought to be asked questions, but, maybe the owners have decided to take things at face value and simply move on, give him enough rope so to speak and in the background are lining up a proper CEO or whatever he is.

The FFP thing is a lottery, nobody including the governing body knows exactly what is happening.
Lets hope we get promoted this season one way or another.

I’m very content that everyone here, apart from me, has never fucked up costing money. I’ve fucked up a few times and what it cost me as a poorly paid tradesman is probably the same as JKA cost Leeds relatively. Niners will have also blue lighted the real btw.

Niners out?

God, nothing worse than people playing the blame game

Lionel Messi gets some of the blame too

It’s a grouting compound for outdoor paving.
The best in the business. £110 a tub but I’ll sell for half that to get rid.
Never get Lionel Messi in to do landscaping. Bloody useless.

Yes he was. We had s**t strikers already so didn’t need another.

By my back of a feg packet calculations Leeds have 200000 fans around the world. And JKA cost us £24,500,000.

Therefore I am doing the following to PUNISH the club as it is THEIR FAULT for this FIASCO.

I am holding Leeds accountable by NOT buying membership, or buying the new top until it is reduced to twenty quid.... That will withold £110 from Leeds.

Neither will I subscribe to Sky tv who put me out by making almost every one of our games available by the watch free on hesgoal etc... Another £10 denied by those SCUMBAGS

I will never ever again put a new battery in my bottle opener which plays a few bars of Marching on Together. Instead I will SING the theme myself, this wont cost the club any money but it will remind me of the ATROCITY committed by those who DARED to strengthen the club when they knew that a global PANDEMIC was on the way and that JKA had as yet an unknown medical condition which could not be picked up by anyone other than a SPECIALIST. --- Stuart Dallas, you LIED to each and every one of us when you CLAIMED that leeds had a TOP level Medical team at Thorp Arch.. -- You make my BLOOD BOIL!!!!

But I digress.. If all of us follow suit we can deprive the club of 200000 x £120 = £24M

That will teach them to never ever again go into the transfer market without first getting into the TARDIS, hopping forward a few years and seeing how things worked out, then pop back and return to the present day and adjusting things accordingly. We cant use the De Lorean as it has American links and we know that they are all a bunch of CLUELESS YANKS :P

That will raise our indignation to new levels and prepare us for the profit and loss accounts for next year which will be even more fun to read.

Leeds UNited I have one question for you.

WHY CANT THEY USE HINDSIGHT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE??

I’ve used Pavetuf at half the price, if yours is better than that, please tell.

It’s GftK VDW850 plus.
A German product. They are the best by far at developing these brush in slurry like grouts. This is a 2 part one which has a hardener added. Simply nothing to touch it in my 25 years of doing this. I regrouted 140 sq mts in 2.5 days on my own! They use it in city centres etc.
It’s expensive but I only used 12 x 25kg tubs to do the above. Nothing will shift it once it’s in!
