Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 15th May) Toffee's fans praying for Leeds play-off exit

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 15th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Toffee's fans praying for Leeds play-off exit

With the play-offs in full flow, twitter has been abuzz with activity, mainly from fans of the teams that are being represented; but now Everton supporters are joining in, with a very different agenda. The Merseyside outfit must have thought all their Christmas's came at once when they were able to snatch Jack Harrison away from Elland Road without so much as a loan fee. The 27yo winger has made 35 appearances for them this season and has played a major part in helping Sean Dyche's side stay clear of the drop zone.

Should Leeds fail to win the play-off's, Harrison, and the rest of deserters from last Summer will be able to extend their loans and continue to run down their contracts. Unsurprisingly, Everton are not keen to splash out £30m for a player, especially if they can exploit Leeds for free.

Who's ready for penalties

Should tomorrows game end in stalemate, just like it did at Carrow Road on Sunday, fans can look forward to extra time, and penalties. Which five penalty takers would you choose?

Leeds return as Bookies favourites for promotion

Leeds Utd are once again the bookies favourites to win the Championship play-offs, and return to the promised land, according to leading bookmakers Bet365. The Whites and Southampton have been taking it in turns as the punters choice for the final promotion slot, but for now at least, Leeds top the bill. This may surprise many as the south Coast outfit have taken all six points from the Whites this season with a five to two aggregate. There's still little to choose between the two sides. Leeds are 11/8, whilst the Saints are 7/5

Obviously it depends who is still on the pitch at the end of extra time but my five penalty takers would be:
Summerville
Piroe
James
Gnonto
Gray or Gruev

There must be a lot of punters with more money than sense.
Based on current form, Leeds should not be favourites to go up.

I still hear conflicting reports on whether the loan clauses extend season on season if we don’t get promoted - others seem to think the entitlement ends at the end of this season. I don’t think anyone really knows the truth of it at the moment.

The effectiveness of a penalty kick depends on several factors, including the player's skill, the goalkeeper's abilities, and the psychological pressure of the moment.

Statistically, placement shots tend to have a higher success rate due to their emphasis on accuracy. According to data from various studies, penalties aimed at the bottom corners have the highest conversion rates, followed by high into the corner of the net, largely because these areas are the hardest for goalkeepers to reach.

Power shots can be very effective when executed correctly, but they come with a higher risk of inaccuracy. Like Rutter hitting over the crossbar at Salford. The sheer speed of the ball can leave goalkeepers with little time to react, making this technique a favorite among confident, powerful strikers, like Harland or Kane.

The Panenka, while risky, can be a psychological masterstroke. Its effectiveness largely hinges on the element of surprise and the player's ability to read the goalkeeper's intentions. Successful Panenka attempts can leave a lasting impression, just remember how Pirlo completely shot Joe Hart's confidence to hell in a penalty shoot out, but failed attempts can undermine a player's confidence.

The stutter step's (beloved of Kenny and made popular by Neymar) effectiveness is somewhat controversial. While it can confuse goalkeepers, it can also disrupt the kicker's rhythm and timing, potentially leading to a less accurate shot. Furthermore, recent rule changes have made overly elaborate stutter steps less common due to stricter enforcement of continuous movement during the run-up.

The you have the hop step that was perfected by German teams and brought them so much success against England.

"There is a clause like this year," Roca told El Desmarque in an interview this week. "If Leeds is not in the Premier League I can go out on loan again"

That's from Marc Roca's own mouth.

So if he has one you'd expect they all do.

No offense but I really hope you lose all your money, dreading the thought of pens.

From what has been said and what I have read the loan periods go again if we are not promoted. Promotion ends them and then we can sell all the rats for higher fees

Not sure if I’ll play yet tbh.
But having sat through the first leg it’s not hard to see a stalemate.
Hoping for an early goal. Hate penalties.

Villa provides quite a good sliding doors moment with Leeds . You look at the end of 2021 and we were in similar situations, both got rid of the managers that brought us up and both made mistakes with replacements - main difference is they were decisive and got rid of Gerrard early allowing them to bring a good replacement in whilst Leeds dithered with Marsch to a point where no one would touch us. Now ones in the champions league whilst we are mired in the championship again

Daniel Farke modeling the "No Penalty" goal keeper's gloves made in Lapland by Santa Claws.

If it comes to a penalty shoot out these gloves improves the chance of saving a penalty by 0.00098%

It is thought that the increased size combined with the florescent neon yellow visually impairs the opponent and effects his concentration so that he is more likely to miss.

The players have to agree to the move, and have the option to go back to Leeds, or stay out on loan. Welcome to the forum!!!!!

So, we don't seem to have any players left to pay with the 'parachute' money, so wtf does it go ?
