Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 5th August) Summerville finer details leaked

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Monday 5th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Summerville finer details leaked

It has come to light that the Elland Road hierarchy insisted on a non disclosure agreement with West Ham to hide the details of the Crysencio Summerville deal from their fans. Unfortunately for them, these things have a habit of being leaked - this is what we know so far! Leeds only had to tell Cree about offers from clubs who had progressed past the first round of UEFA club competitions. This obviously dwindles down the competitions, meaning the ER could choose to just ignore more of the offers that came in!

Contrary to public belief, he did not have a release clause in his terms, and could have left last Summer with rest of the deserters, but opted to stay, and fight for promotion. Leeds were prepared to accept £25m plus add-ons, as long as the (initial) full amount got paid in one go, but the Hammers wanted to split it over four installments. An agreement was reached at £26m (plus clauses and expenses), with half being paid now, and the other half on 1st July next year. The clauses are extensive. If Cree achieves what we think he can, the final sales figure could reach £35m.

Farke cautiously optimistic Bogle will return for season opener

Daniel Farke is cautiously optimistic that Jayden Bogle will be fit to start Leeds Utd's season opener against Portsmouth on Saturday after his sides bruising encounter against Valencia at Elland Road over the weekend. The 24yo hobbled off on the hour mark after being clattered by Rafa Mir, who later got sent off for giving Junior Firpo flying lessons. It was a common reoccurrence of the second half as the Spanish side let frustrations get the best of them.

Leeds are incredibly light of full-backs, a position that is so crucial to Farke's set-up, so the last thing they need just before the season opener is an injury to one of their key players. Fortunately, after initial concern, the injury turned out to be a dead leg, and should return to training Monday or Tuesday! According to Farke...

I was [initially] really concerned about Jayden, we are still a bit thin at full-back. It was a dead leg, not capable to stay on but it's normal after a few days it's gone. I'm not too concerned that he'll be not available for next week, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Has Joseph leapfrogged Bamford in Pecking order

Mateo Joseph was on target again for the Whites at the weekend as Leeds capped off their pre-season campaign with their fourth win in as may games against La Liga giants Valencia CF. He took his pre-season total to four goals, with Piroe and Rutter sharing two each, and Gruev, Firpo and Chambers all on one. His speed, energy and deadly precision in-front of goal has not gone unnoticed on social media, with many demanding that the 20yo hitman starts the season leading the line.

Possibly standing in his way this season is Patrick Bamford, an undoubtedly much more experienced marksman, but an injury record to match. Over the past three seasons, the soon to be 31yo has netted just 14 league goals, spending the majority of the time in the physio suite at Thorp Arch. Even when fit, it's fair to say that his all round recent contributions are limited, and touches of the ball few and far between, compared to his team-mates, but just like recent Managers, Farke (up until now) see's Bamford as an automatic starter, when fit!

It's not as if Joseph has suddenly become a World-beater over the past two and a bit months; he's always been a handful, yet was only handed 219 minutes of league football last season to make an impact, making him nothing more than an after thought. Perhaps, if he had been given a decent run out, we would have gone up last season?

When Elijah was taken up into heaven in a chariot of fire his mantle fell on the prophet Elisha, and he received a double portion of Elijah's spirit.

Firey chariots are in short supply these days, so we have to suffice with hair styles. With the departure of Jimmy, Joseph has inherited his hair style, which means he will score twice the number of goals Jimmy did.

My only concern is that Elijah/Elisha pairing has a majestic ring to it whereas Jimmy/Joseph gives the connotation of green grocers down the local market... so you will have to take my goal scoring predictions with a pinch of salt.

Bamford is half asleep, snoring comes easy to him, it's so easy he could do it in his sleep.

I'll get my coat.

Clubs who hadn't progressed past the first round of Uefa club competitions.

So he has been denied a high profile move to Ireland then.
Probably a good idea, the last Dutchman to move over there started a fight that has continued to this day.

Re Sean.

Good analogy about Joseph,if any defenders give him any verbals he can back up from a couple of angry bears.

And of course he will be a dab hand in the treatment room, no more players out, apart from Bamford of course.

That sounds like a good clause, so just because West Ham's offer was the only one that Leeds chose to tell Cry about doesn't mean there weren't offers that we didn't HAVE to tell him about but we could have had they been higher. Well written clause I say

I said a fortnight ago that Bamford would declare himself fit a week from the start of the season - he has now done that and for some unknown reason the guy is a shoe-in if he is "fit". If I were Joseph and didn't get picked in front of the cripple I would not be a happy bunny..Let us hope that Portsmouth have a bloody large barn door !!

Leeds are preparing to hijack Hugo Bueno's loan move to Scottish giants Celtic.

The exciting 21yo left-back has attracted attention from a host of European clubs including Feyenoord after Wolves revealed that their starlet is available on a season long loan, without an option to make the deal permanent.

Leeds need cover (and competition) for Junior Firpo, with many believing that out-of-favour AC Milan full back Fode Ballo-Toure would be on his way to ER, but for now at-least the Spanish U21 International tops Leeds shopping list!

Hugo has an identical twin brother named Guille, who plays for Borussia Dortmund II.

No release clause. If he had wanted to, he could have gone out on loan last season!!!!

The clause in Summerville contract makes little sense when the conspiracy theory is attached, that the club may have ignored better offers.

The club would sell the player to the highest bidder, if acceptable by Cree, regardless of their standing.

The conspiracy theory makes zero sense.

“Mr Kinnear to Marathe “ Club X have enquired about Cry and are willing to meet the clubs asking price.

Did they get into Europe ?

No boss but they are offering more than a club that has”

Well just ignore that one and keep it quiet.

I think it's more that the club COULD CHOOSE to ignore other offers.

Aye - but they may have wanted to keep him. They are not obliged to sell unless there is a contract stipulation. I am pretty certain - unless they are complete morons - they will have sold him to the highest offer. Contract release or otherwise.

I agree, but Leeds chose to accept £25m plus add-ons, then insisted on a non disclosure agreement.

Fingers crossed on Bogle, and Joesph has to start, surely? Has Paddy even featured in pre-season?
