Patrick Bamford New Contract!? Yes or No?

Post by ElKapitan »

Just read an article with the general jist being "The Whites see a new deal for their star forward as ‘a priority’ as they look to retain Bamford at Elland Road for the foreseeable future."

What are peoples opinions?

For me..... It needs to be on a pay as you play basis if at all and if its any kind of extension on the reported 70k per week a definite no.

When fit he can sometimes offer something but his pressing stats (something I've defended him with in the past) just aren't there any more. He's lost a yard, isn't able to compete for the ball in terms of hold up play and his finishing is eternally left wanting.

I used to love his hold up/linking play and his high speed sprint pressing really added something even when he went through a stage of not being able to hit a barn door in a barn door shop but I just don't see what he offers for the money now with Joseph/Piroe deserving to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

There doesn’t appear to be a poll, but definitely no from me.

That stage has been his whole career not just every now and then, and that includes our promotion season when he scored 16 goals

I personally think Paddy has done a good job for us, but injuries have been his downfall too often. So for me its thanks for all the good times and good luck elsewhere.

31 now and hardly able to walk as it is, £70k/week contract, running till June 26 - which is probably more than you can say for him.

I like the lad but no, no, no.

Can’t believe there should be a discussion on this
How many minutes has he played this season and already out?
What was his longest run of minutes played last season before out with injury anybody?
I’ll take a guess at around 200.
Time for Piroe to be the 9 from the bench
Thanks Paddy for the 1 great season you gave us but you have nothing more to give us

I thought he'd have been better finding a new club this summer, but got injuried, typical so for me its a no, unless it comes with a massive pay cut or pay as you play with bonuses for scoring. Otherwise it's thanks for the good times Bambi but time to move on.

it's better to burn out,
than fade away.

Bamford will go the way of Cooper... end up on a Bosman.

I’m not sure any club would even sign him on a Bosman.

Well if it is a real question - as opposed to some bored individual filling in time by making up "news" - then on the basis of recent performance the answer cannot be anything but a "No - thank you so much, goodbye and all the best""
