Rags to Riches
Every football player thats kicked a ball dreams of making it big, a scout in the crowd to pluck them from obscurity to the fame and fortune of the Priemier League. Now years on there are less players coming through and more often players from abroad become the new starts of the future. Racking my brains Jamie Vardy always comes to the surface as a goal machine that ripped up the divisions and went on to play at the highest level ( still is) How many more UK players came up from the lower divisions to make it big?

The Category 1 academies hoover up all the young talent these days, City and Chelsea the biggest examples of this. A small proportion of them make it as Premier League players, the rest released or find moved to lowe divisions. The pyramid has flipped up the other wy now with Premier League academies feeding lower division clubs rather than the other way round.
