Hello all. Heading to Elland Road for the QPR game and it’ll be the first trip without a group who start on the pints as soon as we get through security in Dublin Airport.

For the first time the other half is coming over to see what all the fuss is about. Anyone with any suggestions of restaurants or go to pubs to wine and dine her while we are about for the weekend. If I get a few brownie points I’m thinking I might get over more often. Fingers crossed.

Somehow the usual pints in the Peacock and McDonald’s or chippy I’ve usually done isn’t going to sway her. Appreciate the help. MOT

If you're staying at the Clayton (regular haunt for Irish visitors), The Cross Keys in Water Lane is close by, lovely pub, great food but not enormous portions. A good Sunday wind-down if you're not away to the airport early.

Plenty of places to eat and drink in the middle of Leeds. What kind of thing you after? Where you staying?

Obviously it depends on what type of cuisine you and the missus like but personally I'm a big fan of Sous Le Nez which is a French style brassiere not far from the train station. Good solid cooking plus a great wine list and even their house wine is drinkable if you want to keep the bill down.

Just checked online for you and they only have 5-30pm or 8-30pm available at the moment but you could check again on Friday as sometimes people book and then cancel the day before if those times aren't suitable.

If you like Indian food try Mowgli on Boar Lane. It’s an independent chain (sounds wrong, but it is) serving typical Indian street food - think tapas- the Leeds one is particularly good and lively (for 64 the Beverley one is pants). Booking essential, slap bang next to Trinity.

Ps don’t be tempted to sit on a swing seat / they are bloody uncomfortable . I know.

Sous Le Nez as mentioned is very nice, plus Crafthouse, Cut & Craft, Ox Club, Dakota and Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor are good classic restaurants. Three's a Crowd is a decent gastropub type place.

Mowgli, Blue Sakura and Tattu if you want something differnet.

If you want something really special then Craig Rogan at The Collective, but that is tasting menu territory.

Loads of more informal burger and pizza, Thai places around too.
