Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 6th November) - Farke cautiously optimistic about Ampadu return

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 6th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Farke cautiously optimistic about Ampadu return

Leeds Manager Daniel Farke has expressed cautious optimism that Ethan Ampadu is on course to return to action earlier than anticipated. The Welsh International midfielder suffered knee ligament damage during the 3-0 win against Coventry at the end of September. After consulting specialists, the club decided towards 'Conservative treatment' to which the Leeds skipper has been responding well to.

During his Millwall pre-press conference, Daniel Farke revealed that Ampadu has already returned to light duties, including some running. Given his importance, the Thorp Arch medical team will not risk bringing him back to first team action until he is fit and ready. The last thing they need is a relapse, and to miss the entire campaign. According to Farke...

He's working hard, already doing some running. It will be a while before he can join us in team training, he's even a bit ahead of schedule. I'm carefully optimistic he can return to team training a bit earlier. We will see. Normally it would be realistic to be back in training in the middle of December and then available in the beginning of January.

It would be nice if he can help us already a bit earlier and sooner because he's our captain and a versatile player. We would love to have him back but we won't rush it. It was a serious injury. He's a bit ahead but let's see how it develops. It's always difficult to say, you have to extend the load from day to day and there could be a day when you have to be a bit careful and take a step back.

It's pretty rare that I've ever experienced a straightforward rehab. So far each day it was better and it looks really good but it's too soon to judge when he can help us again.

Aaronson is the Championships most dispossessed player

Since returning from his Germany hiatus, USA International Brenden Aaronson has worked hard to regain the trust of both his Leeds team-mates and the Elland Road faithful. Upon relegation 18 months ago, he jumped ship, only to endure a miserable season in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin. Unfinished business and promises of a fresh slate bought the 24yo back to Blighty in the Summer, and has been a big part of Daniel Farke's plans ever since.

Despite four goals, an assist, and a very healthy 7.02 'Whoscored' rating (6th), his upper body strength continuous to be a cause for concern despite bulking up a little. New date shows that over his 1029 minutes of game time, Aaronson has been knocked off the ball or tackled 38 times already, more than any other Championship player this season; prompting speculation that he may be rested for tonight's physical battle at the Den!

Ampadu needs to fully recover before his return we're not doing too bad without him

Aaronsons game is largely about receiving the ball in tight offensive areas and picking a pass or making a break . This carries with it a high risk of dispossession but along with Rothwell we need him getting the ball in those areas as it's the source of breaking defensive lines. His pass to Gnonto for his second half chance is a prime example of the type of key pass he has been making which doesn't count as an assist because it wasn't converted . From what I have seen he doesn't tend to get dispossessed in areas where it creates a chance for the opposition which happened fairly frequently with Georgi when he tried to help out in defence . I don't see DF dropping him and it's a bit of a cliche that we should pick big guys to play Millwall.

If you haven't got the ball you can't lose it. He's doing OK. Silly stats of nonsense once again.

This is the correct interpretation.

Player most dispossessed last season?

Georginio Rutter with 111

And he won the title by a very wide margin. Next closest was Whittaker with 74...

Ampadu can take his time now. The signing of Guilavogui gives us time and if we get all fit at the same time, we'll have 4 midfielders. Hopefully it will be well timed and we can avoid last season's scenario of players fatigued and carrying injuries through the end of the season.

Aaronson's decision making is not the best at times. He gets dispossessed when he shouldn't. But he's the only player we have capable of doing what he does. It's intelligence that should improve with experience.

Can’t wait to see a fully fit Amps back but whoever has to make way will be gutted. Feared the worst when he and Gruev got injured but Tanaka & Rothwell have filled the void brilliantly and probably wouldn’t have got much pitch time without the injuries. Hopefully both Amps & Gruev are fully fit for the post Christmas run in and will give DF good options.
Aaronson does lose the ball more but as has been said not in the same dangerous areas as Rutter, he seems to almost be trying too hard to win back the fans & prove himself so everything is done at 100 mph but hassles & harries the opposition more than Georgi so swings & roundabouts.
Hopefully a win tonight & some dropped points from Sunderland & Burnley. 🙏🏻

Losing possession is another stupid stat .... Rothwell lost possession 18 times v Plymouth, and even as one who's Rothwell biggest cynic I think that is completely meaningless

So, Wober gets injured on International duty, we get him nursed back to a point where he can resume training and without ever kicking a ball for Leeds, he's called up for Austria again and feels it appropriate to go?

The guy is taking the piss.

Farke should be telling him off the record to decline the invitation or rot in the U21s.
