Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thursday 7th November) Leeds pay price for poor finishing

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Thursday 7th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds pay price for poor finishing

Leeds missed a hatful of chances to return to the automatic promotion places, losing their unbeaten away record, at the hands of Millwall, at the Den last night. What the hosts lacked in skill and ability, they more than made up for in theatrics. Their hostile and aggressive appearance would change on a six-pence to that of an assault victim if it meant a free kick was up for grabs.

The only goal of the game came five minutes from the interval, curtesy of such. The dead ball was pumped deep from the edge of the halfway semi-circle, finding the head of 6ft 7' thug Jake Cooper (etched between Messrs Bogle and Rodon). His downward header fell kindly for Tanganga to sweep the ball past Meslier from the edge of the area.

Leeds need to take note of this set piece. There have been dozens of occasions where the Whites have been in better more forward positions to deliver free kicks, only to pass the ball sideways or backwards, just to keep possession.

If teams were rewarded for half chances, Leeds would be well on the way to automatic promotion by now. As it is, they drop to third in favour of the Blades, four points behind leaders Sunderland. Next up is a home tie against QPR, a team that smashed four goals past the Whites back in April, albeit that was at Loftus Road!

Is Farke learning by his mistakes

Leeds fans turned to social media in the droves after Neil Harris' Millwall ended Leeds unbeaten away record last night. Whilst asking for his dismissal maybe a little harsh, question marks continue to be raised regarding his sides inability to break down defences, his use of substitutions and set piece woes. The Whites are actually a point better off (and fours goals to the good) compared to this very time last season, but you can't blame fans for being anxious after what happened last season.

The club splashed out big to land Farke, and I can't help thinking that his past reputation is a major consideration why he has been left to his own devises by the 49ers thus far. Leeds benefit from a more forgiving Championship than the 2023-24 version to absorb results like last night, but with the talent on show, shouldn't Leeds be doing better?

Lost again to a side we have completely outplayed. Tanaka had 64 competed passes in the first half - the whole of the Millwall team had 70 !! I am sure now that other sides will have worked out what to do when playing us - park the bus from the word in the hope of a breakaway goal knowing that we have little chance of breaking through from the edge of the box. What chances we had were wasted, notably one by Firpo who "fresh-aired" from six yards out. This should have been a comfortable win 😪

Morning EB et all,

Welcome to a depressing cold, damp, grey day for Leeds supporters

If there's one club in this league I hate and definitely hate loosing to its the anti-football, bunch of thugs Scumwall.

So, Farke can't be blamed if players have an off day and/or miss chances but he can be blamed when players rather than pass the ball forward they turn and pass it back, he can be blamed for how poor we are at set pieces, don't we practice these!! Surely someone in the coaching staff, has seen at least one video from the last 20 years of how Scumwall play, if so why did we not know that they would time waste, foul, pull, trip and block us off, while at the same time claim they'd been punched, kicked, elbowed when a player wasn't even near them. How did we not know that their 6'7" lump of wood, would lumber up for every set piece and guess what he wins headers. How do we not know how to break down a defence that sits everyone behind the ball, we've had enough games under Farke were teams do this or do we just rely on luck or a genius bit of skill from a player, we need to start learning, we need to start been more smart and we need to beat these teams or we won't be going up anytime soon.

Oh and I'm not in the Sack Farke club, I just want him to take the handbrake off

Well it is a point of view that we completely outplayed Millwall. I don't agree.

Sure we dominated possession and in our own half and just beyond the halfway line we played fine. In the final third of the pitch we floundered, we huffed and we puffed but in the end analysis never troubled their keeper. Was never a candidate for a "comfortable win" so impotent were we.

Millwall on the other hand had a limited game plan. The played the low block with nothing getting past the central defenders, pressed and harried our midfield, hoped to nick a goal or two from a set piece and then manage the game to conclusion. They played out their plan to perfection and we failed to find answers.

Millwall got what they deserved in this match IMHO. We don't really know how to scrap and we don't get anything just for playing the prettier football

I was sitting with the CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, and he said Sir, how to get Leeds United promoted... how can we make Leeds great again.

Listen, I said Leeds are great. Tremendous, really. But nobody’s taking them seriously because they need to be winning so bigly that the other teams are going to cry.

Didn't make Rooney and Plymouth cry... big mistake... big big mistake... have to send a message so your opponent will fear you. Missed opportunity to make a statement.

Now, here’s what you do: start a huge campaign. I’m talking rallies in the stands. Get the fans behind you, and get rid of those moaners, they drain the life blood out of the club... I will have a word with Elon to get them banned from X. Get signs up all over the stadium... Make Leeds Great Again. Have the fans chant, ‘We’re the best, the rest are a mess!’ People love that. I know.

And the refs? Look, I know a guy, I’ll get them to make all the best calls, trust me... the best calls that can never be traced. I know the system. They’re going to promote Leeds so fast it’ll make your head spin... so fast... believe me"

My advice is to ditch that looser Will Ferrell and get Russell Crowe on board, now there is someone from central casting... Remember him for gladiator? Strong image just what Leeds need... believe me. Will the Pill endorsed Kamala and you don't want to be associated with losers... fire him.

A game we doninated but did not desereve to win, ti win you need to score, to get a point you have to equal the opposition, we did neither, percentage as I've said far too many times along with stats, means absolutely bugger all.
Once again too many wasteful chances, Gnonto and James the main constant offenders, add to them firpo and the dreadful piroe.
How can a brutal team like millwall con the ref into buying their dives !!!

Millwall out fought money bags Leeds
Stubborn is DF with no plan B.

The Lions are on a 4 match win streak
Something Leeds are yet to achieve.

I messaged Df in the 80th min urging him to chuck em all in up front. It didn't work, but then what do I know about football. Has DF learned any lessons from last season?

January's window is key to consolidating a top 2 position, until then we'll just have to put up with the boring possession based away match routine that is in need of changing as the host team bus arrives and parks on the pitch. Dear, dear.......

I think it has got to the point where Leeds need to just hoof the ball back to the opposition a d allow them to try and keep it.

Jesse ball would actually work in this league as there isn't the quality to punish mistakes like in the Prem.

Plus it would get the pulse racing, this mind numbing inertia is seriously doing my head in.

Ball retention at all cost even if it slow down our attacks.

You are absolutely right.

MLGA doesn't exactly trip of the tongue.

Try getting Joe Biden to say that, MLGA, come on man, that's no joke... seriously though... I mean we killed Medicare.
