Tanaka 5-4 Aaronson for the 6 points vote.

Bogle & Rothwell received one six point vote each.

For the first time in five matches three players in my opinion better than Tanaka, who indeed had another good game.

Aaronson's fate here reminds me of Ted Williams and the American League Most Valuable Player award of 1947.

For those not familiar with baseball, Ted Williams played for the Boston Red Sox and was one of the greatest hitters who ever lived. He was also a Marine Corps fighter pilot who lost nearly five years of his career to service during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. But Williams also had a personality that caused some to dislike him, some quite intensely.

In 1947 Williams led the American League in runs scored, home runs, runs batted in, batting average, and slugging average but Joe DiMaggio won the Most Valuable Player award that year because one of the voters (who were supposed to vote for ten players each), because of personal animus, left Williams off his ballot entirely.

I had Aaronson at the top of the list, but can see how someone might rate one or two others more highly. What I can't understand is how an unbiased, dispassionate observer could have watched the QPR game and not have rated Aaronson among the very best that day.
