Where do we finish at the end of the season
suggestions
Re: Where do we finish at the end of the season
Top 2 ONLY if we bring in first week of JAN 25 proven number 9, proven number 10 and a LB who can defend
Re: Where do we finish at the end of the season
Top !! Can’t see us gettiing in a LB as we have Firpo, Byram, Wober & even Struijk who can all potentially play there but we’ll def need one if we get promoted. A No9 &10 preferably but there’s no point just getting someone to get us out of the Championship to then have to buy again in the summer. Realistically what Prem quality players are going to be available in January ?

9, 10, LB it's a broken record now we have heard it over and over again and again.
Firpo is our LB who operates as a wing back and is great going forward and provides assists, the same as Bogle. The team is set up to be possession based and you hardly need a defence since most opposing teams set up as a low block. When the full backs are forward Tanaka drops in between Rodon and Struijk and the defence is sorted.
Aaronson is our number 10 and already has 3 goals or at a pinch Piroe with 7 goals.
Lord Bamford will come in at 9 and cause a full blown democratic left wing non binary blue haired meltdown by becoming the top scorer for Leeds.
So there!!!

The first and only task is to get promoted so we need to buy players that will get us promoted. There is so much money to promoted teams you simply just sell the players who are not good enough for the per regardless when you purchased them.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 2:18 pm Top !! Top 2 but it isn't an option. I think Sheff U are the best team in terms of winning without playing well and as such it will likely be us and them top 2. If you look at last weekend's games they were very similar but with different outcomes. Sheff U conceded a penalty to Sunderland. SUnderland then missed the penalty and Sheff U went on to get a winner in a very poor game. We on the other hand conceded a penalty agaisnt Blackburn but Blackburn scored. That seems to be the difference and they find ways to win. I have watched them a few times and they are certainly nowhere near as good as us but we need to create better chances and then take them.
So onto what we need in January and the answer for me is just 1 player, a proper no.10. I have no qualms about Piroe as a finisher - the only problem is we don't create many chances for him. Similarly if Joseph, or even Bamford, got a run of games I think they would do okay. What we do have though is still a team that has no goals from midfield. We have inconsistent finishers in our wide players and don't create chances for our no.9. We again have a 10 who doesn't offer much of a goal threat and unfortunately not much in the way of assists too. So for me all we need is a 10 to come in and score a few, but more importantly create good openings, either the pass for the goal or the pass that leads to the pass for the goal. For now though I'd like to see 1 of our 4 wingers tried out in the 10 role or Piroe dropping into it and Joseph/Bamford coming in as the 9 as it would give us more goal threat.

I love leeds united, may I never admit to it.

It does help a team when they have a goalie who can save penalties.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 4:07 pm Top 2 but it isn't an option. Our keeper looked like he was auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing prior to Cantwell converting the penalty.

We never score direct from a free-kick.
Our CBs rarely score with headers, in fact that applies to the whole team.
The majority of our goals from our No.9s are off the bench against tired legs.
Our crosses generally hit the first defender.
Our goalkeeper has never saved a penalty.
One improvement thanks to Rothwell, we have arguably scored from three corners this season.

I'm sticking to my initial prediction --- 1st.
Three 1-0 defeats isn't enough to change my mind in December.
All teams lose matches, no matter what league there in.

Very arguably, I have the one and I'm not convinced that was intended1964white wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 4:36 pm On top of this:

Gone for second as the blunts will probably pip us to the title, Wilder would just love that
Re: Where do we finish at the end of the season
Rothwell has put in several decent crosses, the problem is our big men haven't a clue how to attack them. Rothwell provided a corner-kick on Pascal's head at Blackburn, he headed it straight at the keeper. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:24 pm Very arguably, I have the one and I'm not convinced that was intended

Re: Where do we finish at the end of the season
I don't think he has, at least not better than Cry last season.. Hit and hope. There's not much evidence he is taking good corners either, just depends which side your bias is and I don't rate Rothwell at all. A lesser Glenn Kamara, not in Gruev's class imo
