Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tuesday 14th January) Gelhardt set for Hull move

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Tuesday 14th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Gelhardt set for Hull move

Joe Gelhardt will join Hull City on loan until the end of the season after passing his medical at their University training campus yesterday. Joffy has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road over the past several years. He enjoyed a somewhat successful spell at Sunderland two years ago, but injuries to key players meant he was played out of position. He has played just nine minutes of game time all season prompting criticism why the 22 year old wasn't sent out on loan during the Summer. He will be keen to get minutes under his belt given he's got less than 18 months left on his contract. He'll team up with former Whites Lewie Coyle and Cody Drameh.

Crew off to Donny

League two side Doncaster Rovers are on the verge of signing Welsh International Midfielder Charlie Crew until the end of the season. Manager Grant McCann believes the 18yo's combative style in the middle of the park is the "missing piece" to bolster their promotion push this season. They sit in seventh place, but are only three points shy of automatic promotion. Crew's signature is seen as a major boost for Donny, and he's tipped to be included in the squad for their upcoming fixture against Gillingham this weekend. Rovers fans will be eager to see how the new signing integrates into the team.

Spurs stalwart hotly tipped for Leeds move

There are strong rumours circulating around Elland Road that Leeds are set sign Ben Davies from Tottenham Hotspur on-loan until the end of the season. The versatile defender has fallen down the pecking order at N17 and will be looking for a new club in the Summer when his contract expires, bringing an end to his eleven year tenure. A move to Elland Road wouldn't be the worst idea as long as his parent club pay the majority of his £80,000 per week salary. Fellow Welsh Internationals Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James would undoubtedly make him feel welcome at Leeds, not to mention Spurs team-mate Manor Solomon. Davies turns 32 in April, and is desperate for first team football, but will he be willing to drop to the Championship?

Morning EB, et all,

Joffy to Hull, worst kept secret of the window so far, I really hope it works out for him, a quality player who has spent far to much time on the bench.

Charlie to Donny, again good news as he'll get game time, my mates a season ticket holder at Donny (and yes I still talk to him!) so Charlie will get a warm welcome :)

Davies to Leeds, I'm not a massive fan but as cover it makes a lot of sense, especially if Spurs pick up most or better still all of his wages, I'm sure I've seen him play defensive midfield as well.

Good luck to Joffy and Charlie on their respective moves. I hope they get plenty of game time and do well.

Morning all
Good to hear Joffy & Charlie are off to get some game time which they won't get at ER.
I think Joffy will be sold anyway in the not too distant future, hope someone finds his best position.
Davies in and Struijk out !!! Hope not, but Davies will want game time or he may as well sit on the bench down south where his family is.
How many more Welsh players do we need? Is'nt there a cap on foreigners !!

Davis useems to be a weird target. No future for us, not a position of need, doesn’t make us better. No thanks

In a transfer twist no one saw coming, Ben Davies left Tottenham Hotspur not for Champions League glory or a fat paycheque in Saudi Arabia but to join Leeds United and fulfill his lifelong dream of forming a Welsh male voice choir with Dan James, Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, and Ethan Ampadu.

The quintet reportedly bonded over their love for harmonies during international duty, and their debut rendition of "We'll Keep a Welcome in the Hillside" brought tears to the eyes of Farke loyalists at Elland Road. Patrick Bamford was so moved that he brought his guitar to accompany them.

Sources close to the club say training sessions now end with impromptu rehearsals, and opposition teams have been unnerved by their pre-match warm-ups featuring spine-tingling renditions of " Bread of Heaven" echoing through the stadium.

Rumor has it, Pep Guardiola is considering recruiting a Spanish flamenco ensemble to keep up.

Leeds Utd:

aka .... Spurs in disguise - Rodon, Spence, Solomon, Davies, Archie
aka .... Wales in disguise - almost easier to list the Wales players not in our squad

It's becoming a bit of a consistent theme.

Very good player, surprised some lower level PL clubs aren’t sniffing round.

Has he given up playing the banjo? I did hear that he had been attacking our bovine friends in a field with it but I wasn't aware of any damage happening to the banjo.
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

I think that is an urban legend, and there is no photographic evidence that a footballer has ever contacted the posterior of a cow with a banjo

I recall there was a legend round my way that a bloke used to get his kicks regularly assaulting a poor Shetland pony’s testicular region with a cricket bat, it was a well known horse and it certainly appeared to have a bad temperament . So there certainly is precedent.
