That phone alert was scary btw, I was driving and had no idea what it was. My daughter was in Castle Court (shopping centre) and everyone's phone went apesh1t at the same time.

It's brutal out there. I'm at my parents' house (Antrim for the locals amongst us) and their fence has already succumbed. Summer seat is upside down in the middle of their garden (it's a big, not unsubstantial iron thing) and I can see a neighbour has lost some roof tiles. My dog performed the quickest ablutions in the history of pet owning at 6.30 this morning! Stay safe if you're in Eowyn's range.

There was one black politician in America who protested that hurricanes were all given anglo-saxon names and she wanted afro-american names to be given an equal opportunity, like Lawanda and Tayvon.

As a tip of the hat to the muslim community storms should perhaps be called Fatima or Omar.

Why should storms that are destructive aways be given anglo-saxon names... it just reinforces racial prejudices and makes Caucasian races responsible for all the havoc caused by storms.

I came home to change after a funeral yesterday & mine went off, scared the bejesus out of me. Went to the pub and everyone else’s were going at random times, my mates went off 3 times, how do the government have access to every phone in the country ??

We have a large glass garden table with a glass top, too big for us to move last night so put a double extension wooden ladder, 3 big 2ft x 2ft paving slabs & a bag of cement on top, blew the whole thing over & found the glass 12ft away in one piece.

Based on experiences, I know advertisers do, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the govt don’t as well. Thing is … which government?

They dont Cussie, the alert warning system doesnt come from the Goverment as such, it comes to any phone from the mobile towers that you see around the country, and that our phones connect to for us to get a signal.
