Membership. Any good?/Trying to buy tickets !

Post by Orange Box »

I’m really missing going to ER. I’ve not been regularly for over thirty years when I had to give up my ST due to working a 24/7 shift pattern. The only games I went to in that period was working as a ground medic, which just wasn’t the same.
So I’m thinking about a membership to give me a chance of a ticket now and again.
I’m guessing we have members on here who have experience, and I would love to hear your stories and advice - good and bad. Then I can make an informed decision for next season.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to try for a ticket at all you need a membership. The only way you’d get one without, is by paying for hospitality which is more expensive.

Right old pal.
There are 2 types of membership after ST holders.
As soon as tickets go on sale, the priority members get first dibs at a ticket, don't know how many either, then the following day, My Leeds members get a shot, you have to log on to the queueing site, pretty simple and straight forward really, then at (normally) 1pm (13.00) that day the ticket line opens up and it's totally random what number in the queue you get.
It's not a bun fight, and you can't queue jump, just wait your turn, I've been number 8000 + and when it was my turn there were no tickets left
I've been number 3000 + and struggled with the system
If you are unlucky, which I have, there is then a ballot you enter a few days later, only once have I never got a ticket through the ballot system.
If you (like I have been) very unlucky, the away section don't often sell out, so LUFC sell the tickets to their own fans in at around £48 a pop, which they were selling to the away fans (pre agreement) for £30 a pop, not only that, but you'll be in the delapidated death-trap squashed knees in the west stand.
If you make a member, make sure you link your latest card to the system ,can be a right bollock if you change card later and forget.
You will be issued a digital card now makes it easier, then you download your ticket to your phone for entry.
Any questions let me know.

I'm surprised & often wondered why you haven't got a season-ticket, bearing in mind the aggravation of ordering tickets at increased prices.

I assume due to circumstances the reason you haven't, Mental.

I had a ST for 25 yrs, obviously I couldn't attend all the time due to work commitments and going AWOL every home game isn't to be recommended, and was logistically impossible, sometimes I didn't know the score till a week later.
I also had the "bond" scheme, to fund the east stand back in the day.
I could easily sell my ticket to a mate for a few beers, although many occasions, and you and BB will know where I'm coming from here, I literally couldn't give it away we were so bad.
Now it's too difficult to get a ST as the waiting list is 8 yrs or so, will we ever see this mythical 55,000 arena ?

Especially during the Bates era  Imagine someone rejecting a free ticket now.

The priority membership only applies to those who have been members for 10+ years then there’s My Leeds+ membership & My Leeds as well. As MC says it can be a lottery on the day of ticket sales, once in the system you’re given your place in the queue which ticks down as tickets are sold, don’t think I’ve ever been below 3000 in line. You’re given an option to receive an email when it gets close to your turn which I use. Even when you get through to buy tickets it can be a nightmare as some of the seats are family, disabled or corporate and they won’t let you buy 2 seats if there’s 3 left in a row 😤
Apart from all that it’s a breeze 😅

I was sick as a parrot when I just missed out on the 100 club, Heidi will probably remember my despair when discussing the problem at Leicester a few seasons ago.

At the time, I wish I'd have purchased an away season-ticket when they were on offer prior to the 100 club announcement.

Now I'm not too bothered, as I lead a very active busy life & as we age, sacrifices would have to be made. I'd be knackered doing three games a week as I regularly used to.

I can afford to have four/five holiday breaks now as opposed to a couple annually, then.

As I mentioned to you on Saturday, Cussie, due to SKY constantly messing our fixture list about, you have flights & accommodation reservations to consider too!

I won’t have flights to consider but will have to factor accommodation in, I’m a 10- 12 hour round trip for a home game. Based on Cussie and Mentals input I think I’m going to do it next season (pauses and waits for accusations of PL bandwagon jumping).

If I can double up with a Cas game that’s a double whammy.

Yes but if you know another member you can add them to your friends and family list and get a ticket on their membership or vice versa.

As cussie says, family and friends list can be added on when your's a member, take a look now, maybe you can get half-season membership and your'e already in the system then, nobody can accuse you of jumping on the bandwagon

But we'll be checking your legs for scars.

Oh, if any of your family & friends can't go for any reason, they can sent their ticket to you and vice versa

That would be very enjoyable, OB.

My journeys to Leeds are a four-hour round trip, nowhere as demanding as yours.

yes you do.

I stopped my membership when it became obvious the risks were too great on not getting a ticket, especially as in my case flight and hotel bookings were involved.

And when my bottle opener that played Marching on Together stopped working
Last time I was over we went for a hospitality ticket ( although all those bloody stairs can be a bit tricky after a feed of pints haha)
