The benefits of the 49ers deal

As a Leeds United fan from 7 years old(now 60 ffs) I remember us being IT, the number 1 team, favourites for every competition they entered.
I have also from 16 supported Rangers Fc I live in between Edinburgh & Glasgow now.
Anyhoo in 1992 I was on cloud 9 Leeds won the league & so did Rangers....The meeting in the champions League the next year was horrible for me.
Now with this merger I can see many good things could come from it, benefitting both sides.
If we dont feck it up as usual & get into the prem loaning our best youngsters to Rangers could be the best thing to happen for all, not only that, Rangers have a great scouting system now & they are also identifying markets unexplored mostly.
Scotland is actually a great place for younger players to be blooded into EPL football, its not as wealthy obviously, but has great atmospheres & they all play passing football now, the only long balls in football anymore is to break the pressure or counter attack.
Leeds have a very good academy it cannot harm them being introduced into an environment where winning every game you play, even in Europe is a fantastic mindset to carry with you, also Rangers have some excellent young players who will go far in the game, Igamane, Raskin, Diomande will all be playing at top levels & if 6.2" John Soutter(Scottish International) had'nt had such a bad time with injuries he would be playing with a top 6 EPL side & to be honest, he seems to have overcome a lot of that, he is a warrior defender who has played DM before, looks like Desperate Dan/Dave Mackay type barrel chested figure but boy can he play & I would love to see him in a Leeds shirt as he always seems to stick a leg head or body out to stop goals.
First refusal on these players has to be a stick on & the monies reman within the organisation.

I think the analytics program & scouting systems merged is going to be great for both teams, I can only see WIN, WIN for both, when I look at some of the championship teams impersonating Premiership teams in the top league & see us yo-yoing for decades, a team like US, in the Champ & even League 1....WTF, WE are the biggest one team City in the UK, ER is holding us back size wise...lets hope we get the 1st stage done quickly & get to 48000 then 53000...as we have 15000 on season ticket waiting list, both teams are HUGE sleeping giants, Rangers have 47000 season tickets with 20 odd thousand in the waiting list & the 49ers are after a 70,000 capacity stadia, Id love a yearly pre season friendly when I can sit with Leeds fans, I missed the Hearts game was totally gutted..the Jambos were raving over how good Lufc were that day in Edinburgh

Welcome Ger, great post and I can certainly see where you’re coming from. Followed Rangers for a long time and a Rangers/ Celtic cup semi final at Hampden was actually the first game I took my missus to, talk about a baptism of fire & Rangers games were easier for me to get to then.

Was at both Rangers/Leeds games in 92/93, few mixed emotions but haven’t been to a game at Ibrox in years and try to get to as many Leeds games as possible now.

If the take over goes ahead it will be interesting to see how the owners work between the 2 clubs and with Rangers almost guaranteed European football every season where their priorities will lie. Interesting times ahead hopefully.

Well this has just been released today, "Despite the involvement of the 49ers, who also own Leeds United, Marathe has maintained that Rangers will not be a part of a multi-club ownership model, contrary to some speculation in the media"

I went to the Elland Road shop today to buy the yellow away shirt as now down to £30, I am Yorkshire after all.

With my purchase came a free presentation box of four cans of Red Bull:

- One white can (coconut edition)
- One yellow can (tropical edition))
- One blue can (blue edition)
- One standard can

This seems to be a real statement recognising our distaste of the colour red, with only the standard can having the red Rud Bull logo.

Are they buttering us up for the full Red Bull take-over of the club me wonders, as the 49ers head north of the border?
