Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 19th March) Ampadu decision reeks of desperation

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 19th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Ampadu decision reeks of desperation

Ethan Ampadu is patched up, and ready to go back out to war for Leeds Utd. The versatile midfielder has missed the last five games with a cartilage problem (left knee) that he picked up in training after the Sunderland game. Such is his importance to the team, instead of undergoing surgery, his arthroscopy has been postponed until the summer, allowing the Thorp Arch medical team to patch him up as best they can and wheel him onto the pitch. This decision reeks of desperation, and it's clear that Leeds are willing to gamble with Ampadu's health to salvage their season.

The squad have struggled in his absence, managing 8 points out of a possible 15. Many will look back to their failure to strengthen in January, which has left them in a precarious position. This decision is reckless, it’s short-sighted, and frankly, it’s an insult to both the player and the fans. This isn’t brave; it’s blatant mismanagement disguised as some sort of heroic effort.

Joseph's outburst a cause for concern

The final whistle had barely blown at QPR, but the tension was already palpable. In a shocking display of anger, unused substitute Mateo Joseph erupted into a frenzy, leaving his teammates and coaches scrambling to calm him down. The incident, reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, has left many wondering what sparked such a volatile reaction from the young Spaniard.

Joseph's emotions got the better of him on this occasion, requiring the intervention of captain Ampadu to prevent the situation from escalating further. Ampadu, a seasoned player, quickly stepped in to pacify Joseph, before having a word with Pascak Struijk, presumably to diffuse any remaining tension.

What's striking is that Joseph's outburst was not an isolated incident. The frustration was palpable across the Leeds squad, with Manor Solomon visibly upset at being substituted. It's clear that the team is feeling the pressure, and the emotions are running high. Joseph's anger, in particular, is a cause for concern, as it's only the second time this season that he's remained an unused substitute. The feeling of being left out must have been simmering beneath the surface, waiting to boil over.

Ethan Ampadu, sittin’ there in the QPR dressing room, lookin’ like a fella who’d just realised he’d left the oven on, finally decided he’d had enough o’ the pair of them.

"Lads, will yer give it a rest, la? Yer sound like two blokes arguin’ in the queue at the chippy!" But was they listenin’? Was they hell.

"You’re thowin' a wobbly’, mate! Proper wobbly!" Solomon snarled, jabbin’ his finger so close to Mateo’s face it nearly took his eye out.

"Ohhh, I’M throwin' a wobbly, yeah? Maybe if you weren’t skippin’ round defenders like ya were doin’ the quickstep on Strictly, we’d be alright, la!" Mateo fired back.

Ampadu groaned, rubbin’ his face like a man tryin’ to wipe away the sheer stupidity unfoldin’ in front of him. "I swear, la, I signed up to play footy, not babysit two divvies throwin’ a tantrum!"

That photo of Ampadu/Joseph doesn't relate to the reported flare-up, as we played in this season's yellow away kit.

Coincidently, we found a dead pigeon under a tree in our garden this morning. We did wonder if it was unwell as he was perched on a branch for a couple of hours before dusk, yesterday.

Provocative pot stirring this morning!!!

Amps. All fine there, suspect this is a joint decision (players are not slaves).

Joseph. He cares which is good.

No back turning and apathy which is positive.

With eight games left, our lead has been cut to just goal difference, and the hierarchy think a half fit Amps is the answer. Desperate and disjointed come to mind.

Didn't Leds get an inkling when all around them were signing players en masse in January?

Big question is, will these 'so called' inferior loan players be better than a superior team zapped of energy?

Panic stations... its the bird flu come to get us all. We had a Starling dead in front of the garage, wondered how to pick it up and dispose of it.

Might just be resting. Possibly not expired.

I get it...this is going to be tight and every game counts now. I don't think everyone is zapped of energy though...

Gnonto, Ramrazani, Joseph are fresh as not played much - would they be better than loan players brought in? i would argue yes. I think the issue here is not more players, it's Farke's openess to use the ones he already has.

We have other unproven ones too, the issue here that we don't know if they will step up when tested.

Morning all
EB is right to asked these questions, just like my pals and I do everytime we speak on the phone or in person, we care about the club, not saying the hierachy dosen't either, just pointing out past mistakes we are making again and again and again, the same old excuses are trotted out, "we won't bring in players who aren't as good as we already have" etc etc.
We are fed up of owners not have the forward thinking thats needed to hang on the the coat tails of Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace, Forest, Bournemouth with their pathetic 11,000 crowds ffs and we get 3 times that, yet are so far behind them in all other areas it asks massive questions, well to most of us it does.

If Ampadu is back and gets a further injury who is to blame !!
Should'nt we have a few more players to bring on, or like Joseph, Gnonto, Rammazzani, Debayo, Byram, the list goes on, simply aren't good enough ?

Joseph, like Soloman were both bitterly dissapointed for differing reasons, Joseph needs to show his frustration on the pitch by scoring, Soloman was just unlucky that it's once again rotation to stop other players like Gnonto throwing a wobbly, although Gnonto actually came on and did the business.

Managers get paid very handsomely to sort these issues out, and tbh, DF has done that many times for us alone.

Hopefully the medical department who also get paid very handsomely know what they're doing as well.

With a bit of luck, all players come back fit after the Int' break and we start winning again, nerves will play a very big part in the remaining games, thats one of the reasons Ampadu is needed back so quickly on the battle field.

This is my ‘I told you so’ moment. I said at the time the reason Amps wasn’t having surgery now was to wheel him out if/when things got sticky. If he’d gone under the knife that wouldn’t be possible.
Guess what? Things are starting to get sticky, so let’s wheel Amps out, probably literally. What’s the betting he becomes long term injured on the back of this.
WARNING: During game time, any post I make is not to be taken seriously, neither is it meant as offence. I'm a hot-blooded creature prone to moments of exasperation and expletive.

Those were my exact sentiments as well OB, we literally are rolling the dice here.

Given the largely unchanged starting lineup we have had for many weeks I’m not surprised that there are signs of frustration from other players not getting game time - I’d be pretty cross as well if I could see my promotion bonus potentially going down the drain and been given no opportunity to help.

Ampadu is a big boy if he doesn’t feel capable of playing or willing to risk making his injury worse then he won’t play - it’s not like he is going to be forced on the pitch against his will.
