Match Thread Leeds v Bristol City Match Thread - FULL MATCH HERE!

Post by Ellandback1 »

Monday 28th April 8:00pm | Elland Road

Leeds United return to action on Monday night with the chance to reclaim top spot in the Championship when they host Bristol City at Elland Road. Following Burnley’s result over the weekend, Daniel Farke’s men know a victory would put them back in control of their title destiny heading into the final weekend. After an emotional week celebrating their promotion, Leeds must quickly refocus if they are to finish the season as champions.

Daniel Farke cut a relaxed but determined figure during his pre-match press conference, batting away speculation about his future and reaffirming his commitment to the club’s long-term vision. He stressed the importance of maintaining momentum, describing winning the Championship title as "something really special" to cap what he believes has been a historic season for the Whites. With promotion already secured, attention now turns to ensuring Leeds cross the line in first place.

Leeds are expected to field a strong side despite the celebrations earlier in the week. Pascal Struijk and Joe Rothwell remain unavailable through injury, meaning Ethan Ampadu is likely to continue alongside Joe Rodon at centre-back. Junior Firpo could make one of his final appearances before a rumoured summer move to Real Betis, while Daniel Farke may look to blood some youngsters from the bench if circumstances allow, with Sam Chambers, Harry Gray, and Isaac Schmidt among those in contention.

Visitors Bristol City arrive at Elland Road looking to cement their own ambitions. Sitting fifth in the table, Liam Manning’s side are fighting to secure their play-off place, but they come into the game after a 3-1 defeat to Luton Town. The Robins are struggling with injuries, with Cam Pring ruled out, Joe Williams a major doubt, and Harry Cornick, Mark Sykes, and Luke McNally all sidelined. Nevertheless, they have lost just twice in their last ten outings and will pose a stern test.

Farke was full of praise for the work done by Manning at Bristol City, acknowledging the visitors as one of the Championship’s better sides this season. However, he made it clear that his focus is entirely on Leeds maintaining their standards, highlighting the need for strong preparation and professionalism even after the highs of promotion celebrations. With the planning for Premier League football already underway, Farke’s message was clear: there can be no letting up.

Monday night under the Elland Road lights promises to be another memorable occasion. Leeds will look to ride the wave of emotion and support from the stands as they push to add a Championship title to their promotion achievement. Victory would not just be a symbolic statement of their dominance this season — it would take them one huge step closer to lifting silverware, and ensure the party atmosphere in West Yorkshire rolls on for another week.

Give the kids a couple of games and allow the players who performed so well all through the season to take a back seat and wallow in their success.

Depends if Farke is eyeing the trophy or not, but I’d expect a relatively strong side (at least to start).

Said that in jest BB. Like you I believe he will play his strongest 11 while there is still the trophy to go for.
Ideal game would be like the Stoke game, score a few early goals and control the game then give a few of the younger guys an introduction to what it's like to play to a full house.
I can't see BC being as bad as Stoke were, will be a tougher game, don't they still have a shot at the playoffs ?

There may be a bit of sentimentality from Farke if we go 3 or 4 up. A long run out for Ramazani and a debut for Harry showed that in the last game. But I do think his initial objective will be on winning the title. Especially as many fans and journalists are still underrating him. I think he'll definitely want the title.

We have a remarkable record v BC.
I doubt we have a better one against anyone else.
This lot be off on hols soon so I’d be all out for the title myself.

Bristol City have way more at stake than we do. 4 point gap to Boro and Millwall and potentially missing out on the playoffs. If they lose they could be going into their final game with the pressure of needing a win.

One of our favourite clubs to play home & away.

Since 2010
Won 15
Drawn 3
Lost 1

I witnessed this defeat in 1974 though :(

Thank God you were jesting, read your 1st post & thought all that time with the Trumps had addled your brain. Farke will be desperate to win the title now to show Cjay the error of his ways & head to the Promised Land with his head held high.

He could win the title, become the new Pope and it still wouldn't be enough for Cjay.

Burnley play tomorrow interesting to see their result and if they draw or lose if this makes a difference to our starting 11. If this happens i would still start with our best 11

It maybe 1am before I arrive home.

Nothing compared to returning home from away matches at 3am/4am I've endured over the last seven decades.

Squeaky bum time for Bristol with Coventry, Millwall, Blackburn all waiting for an opportunity to overtake them.
Suspect they will park the bus and play for a point. Their last game is at home v Preston and a win there will get them into the playoffs.

Might be as far as you’re concerned but some of us are not going to let failing to win the title effect what’s been a brilliant and successful season.

If we win tonight great and if not then no big deal.
