Punters required for the new FLAT SEASON competition on SATURDAY's
With the FLAT SEASON due to commence on here next Saturday, 3rd May.
We are looking for other members to join in with our regular team of Cat, Jay, Azkal, 1304, Mrs 64 & myself.
We've had a great response with the FESTIVALS, which will continue throughout the summer.
I would like to see at least a couple of newbies to enjoy the Saturday racing competition with us during the summer/autumn months.
Muppet the Cat will post up the rules on the main racing thread that also includes our nap of the day competition, probably next Friday
PLEASE GIVE US A NOD or a THUMPS UP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
Thank you!

Really enjoyed the festivals 64’ but don’t think I’d have the same time or commitment over the summer, gonna have to give it a miss.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 9:45 am With the FLAT SEASON due to commence on here next Saturday, 3rd May.

I tend to pick my selections out on a Friday evening & post them up on that day if I have an early start, especially when Leeds are kicking-off at lunchtime, which was often the case this season.
I spend probably less than half an hour choosing & posting my selections up these days.
Thanks for the reply, Cussie.

Imo it's the element of time/commitment that puts people off joining in, 64.
Since I started participating in the thread a good few years ago now a few members started off, seemingly enthusiastic at the outset........but subsequently dropped off the edge and disappeared - Ken (Barlow) and ShaunL being two of the more recent ones.
I think the fact that Cussie/JD's Golf Comp did very well was, to a large extent, because participants just had to pick their three players at the outset and that was it, nothing further needed.
Perhaps I'm wrong and we'll get a rush of 'new blood' ........but I doubt it

But you have to pick 3 in each major btw.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:58 pm Imo it's the element of time/commitment that puts people off joining in, 64.

Can change the 3 or stay the same.
Fields can be different from major to major.

I don’t have a Scooby about horse racing and have no real interest in it but enjoyed the banter on the festivals.

It's much more time-consuming for the likes of your good self or Betdog settling the festivals.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 6:43 pm Yes, that's just as I understood it, Foxy. It doesn't take me long to choose 6+ selections for the Saturday competition.
I understand where you are coming from though, Cat.

Re: Punters required for the new FLAT SEASON competition on SATURDAY's
There you go Jim.
Saturday racing only
Saturday Flat Season Comp Rules
1. All players start with a £600.00 pot
2. You have to bet on a minimum of 6 Flat meeting races, with a minimum of five being from the 'main' meeting, which will be confirmed prior to the Saturday. Selecting less than the required 6 races will result in a £50.00 fine being imposed. (You can choose others as long as they are Flat/turf UK meetings (Irish meetings are allowed) - AW meetings are not allowed to be picked from).
3. Minimum bet is £2.50 ew or £5 win on any selection, but you can go as high as you like.
4. A non pre-agreed no show on any Saturday during the course of the Comp will attract a £50.00 fine on each occasion.
5. If anyone goes into the red then they can only bet a maximum of £50.00 until such time as they are back in credit.
6. All prices are starting prices (SP) as quoted in the Racing Post. Place odds are based on 1/4 SP.
7. Any mid-season Festival Comps are separate and do not affect the regular Saturday Comp standings.
8. Any player joining the Comp mid-season will be started with a pot £10 below that of the player in last position.
