Explains why it's all so bad ... winner is basically the loser.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 9:50 am Sweden won it a couple of years back and were hoping they would not win it again because if the cost of hosting the event.
In the past Ireland who have won it a few times have express the opinion that hosting is a financial burden.
All the staging and security it must be a hassle. I read a couple of people were arrested for trying to protest during the Israeli song... pot of paint involved and one security guard hurt, but not seriously.

Re: Eurovision 2025 Poll
Funnily enough just been on holidays , we went to Alcase region in France , Strasbourg , Colmar ( fantastic area ) ....for a day out we had decided as some stage to visit Basel , not knowing it was Eurovision there prior to holidays . We went on Thursday reckoning if it was Saturday we could avoid the crowds etc associated with that . It's on all week
, we found to our surprise, so loads of Euro fans all over the city . Mind you , I suspect due to this being on police were everywhere, no beggars to be seen so I suspect the police had moved them on for this show , we also went to Freiburg in Germany which had beggars pretty much every corner , hence why I suspect they were moved on in Basel .
Basel itself ? Modern city , clean ....... wouldn't bother again , it's just a city , only thing to really recommend is the view of he Rhine there . Can't judge Switzerland by one city though , like judging England by Birmingham
