The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 23rd May) How safe is Farke's tenure this Summer?

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 23rd May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road…

How safe is Farke's tenure this Summer?

Reports from Spanish outlet AS have ignited speculation that Leeds are considering a bold move to replace Daniel Farke with Real Madrid icon Raul. The legendary Spanish striker, who boasts an impressive 323 goals in 741 appearances for Real Madrid and 102 caps for Spain, retired from playing in 2015.

Since hanging up his boots, Raul has transitioned into management, taking the reins at Real Madrid's reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla, in 2019. According to AS, Raul is eager to embark on a new challenge after reportedly being overlooked for the top job at Real Madrid, with Xabi Alonso rumoured to be taking the Bernabéu hot seat. This pursuit of a fresh start could pave the way for a potential move to Elland Road.

The rumours surrounding Farke's future at Elland Road have been further fueled by reports from Denmark and Germany suggesting that Leeds officials held discreet discussions with Mainz manager Bo Henriksen. These talks apparently prompted him to publicly reaffirm his commitment to the Bundesliga outfit.

Despite Paraag Marathe's supportive 'he's my man' speech three weeks ago, Daniel Farke's tenure at Leeds still looks uncertain. Are the 49ers actively searching for a new leader this summer, or are these simply speculative links - Only time will tell!

Whites face a battle to land Motherwell starlet

Lennon Miller, described as many as being one of the best teenage midfielder in British football is well and truly on Leeds radar this summer, according to recent reports in the media. The Whites are among a host of top clubs who have registered their interest in the Scottish teenager.

They face a battle to secure his signature, with as many as ten Premier League teams are reportedly vying for Miller's attention. Furthermore, Strasbourg, Chelsea's sister club, appear to be making significant headway in the race, alongside Italian clubs Atalanta, Bologna, and Como.

Miller has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Fir Park, showcasing his immense potential. Football analyst Ben Mattinson has described him as a player with "huge potential," a sentiment echoed by his recent call-up to the Scotland squad for upcoming friendlies.

The 18-year-old has been a key figure for the Steelmen, making 39 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals and eight assists. His impressive tally of 3398 minutes played demonstrates the trust placed in him despite his young age.

One of his most valuable attributes is his versatility. He is capable of playing in any midfield position, having featured equally as a number six, eight, and ten this season. This adaptability would undoubtedly be an asset to Leeds.

Securing Miller's signature would be a significant coup for Leeds. His undeniable talent and leadership qualities, demonstrated by captaining Motherwell on ten occasions, suggest he could be a real gem for the Yorkshire club. While the competition is fierce, landing Miller could provide Leeds with a dynamic and promising player to aid their Premier League survival bid.

I'd sooner have the Raul of 10 years ago with his boots on...

Spot on, CW, much rather that version than the one managing Madrid's B team. Another non story, we'd need our heads looking at if we went down that route.

Serendipity of synchronicity I just started a poll on clickbait featuring Raul, before the Friday debate was posted. So far the voting is in favour of ignoring it.

How do you do that when it is so pervasive?
And once you have been duped and let down what recourse do you have to complain about the rubbish and speculation that has been printed by shoddy journalists?

It makes me mad at all the unsubstantiated rumours that flood the media, the vast majority of which never come true... there is just a lack of integrity.

Come back Phil all is forgiven.

Negativity won't pull you through... shouldn't it be Premier league title bid
that sounds better.

You have fallen for the pervasive malaise that is survival syndrome

I read a fair bit of clickbait, knowing it’s nonsense. Keeps me connected in some remote way.

Ger Lynch on The View sieves and collates the sh1tstorm daily, identifying which rumours are bollocks and which might have some legs, and he’s immensely popular.

I like his daily updates ... it's the best "news" site there is for Leeds United

Listen here, sunshine. The word “survival” has no place in the Leeds United lexicon, chuck it straight in the bin with the plastic forks and the paper straws. This club isn't some shivering rabbit dodging relegation like a drunk trying to cross the M62 in a fog.

Leeds United is a fire-breathing, snarling, ba***rd of a club with a history soaked in blood, swagger, and the broken dreams of southern softies. If I hear one more fan mumble something about “just surviving,” I’ll personally march them to Elland Road, chain them to the Don Revie statue, and force them to watch clips of Batty and Bremner until they remember who the hell we are.

Survival? That's for cockroaches and garden weeds, not a club that once terrorised Europe and will bloody well do it again. It’s not survival we want, it's conquest, domination, a reckoning from the North like Ragnarok with shinpads.

The moment a Leeds fan utters “we just need to survive,” somewhere in Beeston, a pigeon dies of shame and yorkshire whippets get a weird twitch in their eyes. You want to talk about mentality? The only mentality at Leeds should be “tear their legs off and sing about it.”

We kick down the door, drink everyone’s pint, steal their best player, and set off a flare in the boardroom. Survival? I’d rather eat my badge and wash it down with a warm pint from the Peacock.

Lennon Miller. Oh goody, let’s ruin another promising young Scottish player by heaping tons of expectant pressure on him too early 🙄

I'd hope this would be a signing for our 21's tbh .... at least initially.

Not being controversial but by the looks of him he could be a twinkle in Ian St John's eye.

Still won’t stop us putting pressure on.

Ripping it up at already relegated Hamilton Accies. Trips to my own Stranraer and Spartans beckon next season so I can’t really see another Motherwell product being enticed to ER with our track record.
