Could you explain more clearly what we are voting on?
Are we voting who’s best or who’s made the most appearances? Also, I don’t remember them playing against each other

The best, Finn
It's a Leeds competition between Bielsa & Farke promotion squads.
Casilla v Meslier
Ayling v Bogle
Alioski Firpo
And so on....
First round of votes are for our best keeper from the promotion seasons
Re: Kiko Casilla vs Illan Meslier - VOTE NOW!
I guessed that but it was the “Players who made the most appearances playing against each other” part that puzzled me.
Re: Kiko Casilla vs Illan Meslier - VOTE NOW!
Meslier for me, he lost the faith of both the supporters and more importantly his teammates but was still better than Casilla imho.

Dificult question to answer. Meslier was best under Bielsa, taking over from Casilla.

Because Kiko was our main keeper (36 appearances) with Meslier only starting ten times, he has to be the keeper in this poll.

Meslier for me, despite all his errors.

Has to be Casilla then, this board has already basically said get rid of Meslier after his performances under Farke and Casilla was a decent keeper for the most part ...

Assuming this is based on performances for us overall not overall talent sort of thing?
If so I vote for Meslier just about.
But overall I'm not sure because Casilla was actually a very respected goalie in Spain.

I would go for Kiko too. A lot of fans never forgave him for the play-off defeat (in my opinion it was Cooper's error rather than his but hey ho as randy sailors would say unless they had no tongues but I digress). Kiko, for the main part (not a euphemism) was excellent at playing the sweeper keeper role and as good at shot stopping as Messlier. When Kiko got his ban it came shortly after he was the EFL player of the month. Meslier came in and did no better than Kiko but it was always about the potential with Meslier. However Meslier has not improved so any leeway for early errors has to be taken away considering he consistently makes them.

Did they ever prove the racism or just suspended Casilla for show and to be on the safe side?

From what I recall there was no definitve proof it was just what a Chalrton player said he had heard Kiko say to a fellow Charlton player. I don't think however that our legal team was particularly impressive - if it had been Man City's lawyers then it would have likely been a completely different outcome. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 9:44 am Did they ever prove the racism or just suspended Casilla for show and to be on the safe side?
It seemed to boil down to the 'probability' that Kiko said something rather than anything definitive.

I went with Casilla, I thought he was a solid keeper for us, wrongly (imo) blamed for the play-off meltdown (that was Cooper's fault). Left under a cloud after the ugly racism charge but if you're asking me to choose purely on goalkeeping talent, then he gets my vote.

He stayed with us though for the first premier league season, think he made one appearance and kept a clean sheet. I think if any of our players had thought he was racist (and there was then a problem in terms of squad harmony etc) then we would have got rid of him sooner.lufc1304 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 10:15 am I went with Casilla, I thought he was a solid keeper for us, wrongly (imo) blamed for the play-off meltdown (that was Cooper's fault). For me when Meslier came in he did okay. Was poor in his first match v Cardiff (think we lost 2-0 and it was a case of thinking 'Oh should he have done better' when the shot went past him - something that I think has always been the case with him including in his last match prior to being dropped where despite the howler it was actually the second goal that Swansea scored where you think, 'He shouldn't be getting beaten from there.'
To judge Meslier as better than Kiko is to judge solely on what Meslier might become rather than anything Meslier has done for us. In terms of actually keeping ability they are probably of a similar standard.

Kiko for me, you can't vote for a keeper that prevents a goalkick at the expense of a gimme goal, to quote but one
