Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 23rd June) - Leeds fans stay optimistic about Solomon

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Monday 23rd June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Leeds fans stay optimistic about Solomon

Despite recent developments, Leeds United fans remain optimistic about the acquisition of Manor Solomon. The winger's future at Tottenham Hotspur appears uncertain, fueled by their signing of Mathys Tel for a reported £30 million, casting doubts on his Spurs future.

Frank has stated that Solomon will be given an opportunity to prove himself during pre-season, but competition for places is fierce. The 26-year-old is currently on his honeymoon and scheduled to return for pre-season training in approximately two weeks. However, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East may present challenges in securing a flight from Israel.

Leeds fans are keenly observing the situation with baited breathe. His pace, skill, and ability to play across the front line would undoubtedly bolster Leeds' attacking options, and chances of staying up. For now at-least, Whites fans can stay optimistic that Solomon could soon be a Leeds Utd player.

Whites will need Red Bull favour to land Gloukh

Leeds United could find themselves at the heart of an exciting summer transfer window, with energy drink giants Red Bull potentially playing a pivotal role in the club's recruitment strategy. Known globally for their innovative and highly successful scouting system, Red Bull’s football network is uniquely positioned to influence the transfer market, particularly for clubs like Leeds that are keen to rebuild and strengthen their squad.

Red Bull’s approach to talent acquisition is both data-driven and development-focused. They have built a reputation for identifying young, promising players and nurturing them through a clear pathway that links their youth academies, which is something that would massively benefit a club like Leeds!

For the 49ers, this model is invaluable, especially in a key position they are desperate to reinforce - attacking midfield. Ever since Rutter's departure, the Whites have looked sub par creatively, opening the door for new upgrade.

One standout target is Oscar Gloukh, the 21-year-old Israel international making waves in Austria with Salzburg—a core Red Bull club. Gloukh has demonstrated exceptional attacking prowess, both centrally and from the left, delivering an impressive 19 goals and 25 assists across all competitions last season. His proven ability to influence games at such a young age aligns perfectly with Leeds’ need for dynamic creativity.

According to Sky journalist Philipp Hinze several months ago, Salzburg value Gloukh at around €25 million (£21.4 million), a price tag that has attracted interest from numerous top European sides. Amid this competition, Leeds supporters are hopeful that the connection with Red Bull can smooth the path to securing the talented midfielder. Given the intertwined nature of Red Bull’s football operations and Leeds’ ambition, there’s a strong chance these negotiations could lean in Leeds’ favour.

As the summer transfer window unfolds, all eyes will be on Leeds to see if they can capitalise on this strategic link. If they manage to bring Oscar Gloukh to Elland Road, it will not only enhance their creative options but make a statement that the 49ers are looking beyond Premier League survival, and are building firm foundations for the future.

At least Solomon knows the way we play, the club and the manager and will know most of the players already. So if it's a last minute transfer it shouldn't be a worry integrating him.

With bated breath you say... a phrase first inked by Shakespeare in The Merchant of Venice, where Shylock asks, “Shall I bend low, and in a bondman’s key, with bated breath and whispering humbleness…” Pleading apologetically flat cap in hand, a pathetic picture of impoverished misery.

Leeds United fans once again find themselves suspended in that agonising state of hushed hope. But where Shylock whispered for mercy, Leeds supporters whisper for a half-decent striker, only to see targets slip away like snow in the Pennines. Mesmerised by the abundant flow for clickbait journalism.

The ritual is all too familiar: links to big names, cryptic emojis, and “advanced talks” "irons in the fire" " don't go to bed just yet" that lead to nothing but a refreshing F5 key on the computer or swiping down to refresh on your smartphone, all to no avail. Disappointment follows all our dreams.

The breath may be bated, but by now it reeks of stale ambition and reheated PR, as the window shuts with all the finality of boarding the bus to relegation.

The capture of Manor Solomon, and not spending more than £15m - an absolute bargain (if we can get him).

Solomon. First thing would depend on his new managers attitude to him. Is he wanted by Spurs?

If they are unsure then I think we should could go for a loan option with an option to buy if we don't get relegated

I'd hope we're not wasting time on Solomon if it's not going to happen. And would think the club have already had conversations with Spurs and his agent. Would be a great signing. But if we're going to be waiting around, we should be moving on to other targets. I do suppose we still have JH at the club if everything else falls through.

Gloukh would be a terrific signing. Seems a little ambitious as I think he's a champions league player. But I'd be thrilled if we could sign him.

Reports today that Spurs are set to trigger Eberechi Eze's £65M release clause and sign him from Palace. If so our chances of signing Solomon will increase significantly you would have thought.
