Fireworks 🧨

Post by Jaydog »

Probably because I owned a dog that was completely terrified but I’m already sick of the 3 month firework bonanza.
And before anyone says grumpy git or whatever I also have an elderly neighbour that I have to occasionally reassure as she is also frightened by a few tossers that have shoved bangers through her letterbox. No filth if you will…
Anyway I’m glad to see that my daughters Lab Olive is not fussed. In fact her nonchalant bark during a particularly powerful burst was roughly translated as “shove them up your arse”.
My sentiments entirely Olive my love…

Our pupper is terrified of fireworks and any loud noises really. Then again he had a go at an Irish Wolfhound’s leg the other day, go figure………..

Same here, it seems worse than usual for plot night.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was just fizzing rockets that light up, but it’s the bombs going off that’s annoying.

Fireworks are just like burning money, as a Scotsman I am vehemently against it.

People who set fireworks off in residential areas should have multiple fireworks set off from their own bottom as punishment

Go to a field somewhere, plenty of them about

I agree with what has been said,
my dog is terrified of the fireworks, they are always bad round here, letting them off whenever they feel like it.

Been giving her Zylkene that the vet recommended to help calm her down, it is helping a little as she can now lie on her bed when they go off mostly.

Park near my daughters was littered with fireworks this morning. Horrible litter bugs.

Loved fireworks as a kid. Roman candle, Catherine wheel, jumping cracker, the odd banger and gentle rocket. That was it....fun. Nowadays I hate fireworks. We live in a small Suffolk village and the annual firework display was enjoyed on the village playing field. 1998 we got our first beautiful Basset hound pup Joshua and on bonfire night the fireworks from the bonfire were literally seen and heard in our back garden. We took the opportunity to show him this spectacular event holding him up in the air to get used to noise....he was 3 moths old and he absolutely loved it. He barked at the fireworks, chased around the garden, and from then on in he was fearless of noise, even shoots, no problem.
When we got our beautiful boy Zach in 2014 we tried the same tactic....unfortunately the absolute idiots in charge of the same village bonfire decided to go rogue....2014 and decided that big bangs (18 inch fireworks) where what people wanted. My poor boy.....the end of the firework display was just awful. I do not lie when I say that pictures on the wall shook as did my poor boy Zach. He has been forever damaged because of stupid, idiotic selfish people who think that massive bangs boost their egos.
Like a lot of things from my childhood.....firework night has been tainted by absolute T**ts....'nuff said.

There is a petition going at the moment that has over 100000 people signed, petitioning for a ban on fireworks to the general public,
so that only organized firework displays are able to set off fireworks.

As over 100000 people have signed it, it will be debated in parliament.

Hope they ban them.

When I was a kid bonfire night was on the 5th November not every night for a week before and every night for a week after.

Fireworks are so overdone now. Feel like they are used in order to be obnoxious as opposed to being used for celebrating these days. Setting them off almost constantly for no reason from October to January. I've got an elderly dog who is near inconsolable around this time of year.
