Quality

Post by Anderson »

Quality, how do we bridge that gap. After the Villa game 2or3voices we’re saying they had more quality than us.Do they mean able to kill the ball instantly, have a vision for a accurate long pass,or perhaps they don’t have a weaker foot or one not noticeable. In the Villa game, the ball came to Rodon for a natural left footed clearance,he cleared it with his right foot and the ball went scewwiff.Similarly James crossed the ball with his left and it went high wide and out of bounds. The commentator said it was on his weaker foot.Surely if this is worked on in training so players have confidence and both feet are just as capable, then maybe we would be a better match with mid table sides for starters.Just my pennyworth.

There’s an old saying, something along the lines of : hard work will beat quality when quality doesn’t work hard.

We can’t have PL quality at first bite, so to bridge the gap we need to work hard ALL THE TIME and press, press, press. When we did that we had Villa and City on the ropes. When we try to play the quality game we get badly exposed.

We need Bielsa- standard fitness that matches the workhorse buying ethos we adopted this summer.
Please don't ever make the mistake of taking me seriously.

Right tactics, good coaching off and on the ball, giving the players confidence.

Many Premier League teams have lacked quality and been fine.

You see teams in Europe most weeks getting results against far superior opponents.

It's not an impossible task with the right approach

If we have either a more clinical striker or a better goalkeeper then I think we are are in a better position.

That said, Farke's tactics don't play to our strengths. Over reliance on a lone striker, who let's be fair, doesn't convert a high persentage of chances. Nmecha has looked a better bet or even still a formation which allows him to play two of DCL, Nmecha or Piroe like he did second half on Saturday.

And that ultimately is likely a huge problem.

The 2nd half vs Man City showed how many games have been wasted playing "FarkeBall" vs what is best for our squad.

Teams tend to go 5 ayt the back v City, one assumes as it does reasonably well against them in particular... 4-3-3 would probably be our best fit

We've mostly played 451 this season
