Heidi's Blog - Leeds United v Liverpool

Post by Lufcheidi »

Leeds United v Liverpool | 6th December 2025 | Elland Road

With our second game in a few days under the lights, there is no better sound than Elland Road erupting when we score a goal. With another three goals today the noise was tremendous, and it just shows how vital our atmosphere is to our team. Making Elland Road that cauldron of intimidation from passionate fans cannot be underestimated.

Last night was a great night when I was invited to attend the LUSCOS Christmas Party held in the Leeds Lounge; we have fantastic loyal support from Norway. Having the respect and love shown to me by our fans was incredible and I appreciate everything said to me. Thank you for a great evening along with legend ex-players Eddie Gray, Lucas Radebe, Joe Jordan, Ben Parker and Jonny Howson as well as legendary Leeds fans.

It was obvious to begin with, that we were not going to get an easy game from Liverpool, although we started off with an Okafor shot wide of the post and Gudmundsson hitting a volley over the bar. When Liverpool curled a shot towards goal, I was expecting it to go over the goal only for the ball to hit the crossbar and bounce away. There weren’t many clear chances as we went into the break on equal terms, but we were playing deep and inviting Liverpool to attack, so for me I wanted changes made at the start of the second half.

Sadly, Farke stuck with his formation, and we were made to regret that decision within five minutes of the restart. A mistake from Rodon when he sent a ball across to Ampadu only to hit it too hard so Liverpool were able to pick up the ball, run past our defence and hit the ball into the net. Then two minutes later they increased their lead when again we were too casual playing out from the back. Their player had stayed down in the penalty area but got up quickly enough to get to the cross in front of Perri to poke the ball into the net. I’ll admit I lost it with Farke then for not changing things. It wasn’t until 10 minutes into the half that Farke made a triple substitution. There were some moans when Aaronson was brought on but for me, I prefer him as a “super sub” where he can bring some energy into the game.

The response from the team to the changes told very quickly. When Gnonto was brought down in the penalty area, initially the referee didn’t give a penalty, and he only changed his mind when VAR looked at the decision. Everyone around me couldn’t believe he had to have his mind changed!! Calvert-Lewin saw their keeper go the right way, but his penalty was powerful enough to fly into the net. Two minutes later we equalised when Stach received a pass from Aaronson and skipped past their defence to hit a sweet shot into the net as Elland Road erupted. What a difference those substitutions had made, and I’m convinced that if they had been made at half time, then Liverpool wouldn’t have got their two goals. Perri made a fantastic save but then Liverpool got a third goal to restore their lead when they made a quick counterattack. At that moment, I thought I’d take a 3-3 draw and got my wish when from a corner, the ball fell to Tanaka who smashed the ball into the net to equalise. The noise from the crowd was immense as wild celebrations were seen all around the ground.

Details of the Billy Bremner raffle can be found here or if you want to donate to the statue appeal click here. Please buy our raffle tickets with all profits raising funds for a statue of our greatest ever captain in his hometown of Raploch, Stirling.

What a game and what a comeback but as I said, don’t be afraid of anyone! Enjoy the euphoria and see you at Brentford.
