As an interesting side note the statement
“Leeds are staying Up Staying Up - OR ARE WE unlikely unless we replace DF asap”
is a textbook example of BATHOS, because it executes a sudden, jarring descent from the sublime to the ridiculous (or in this case, from euphoric chant of hope to abject panic) in the space of a single breath.
To break it down:
The elevated, heroic register
“Leeds are staying Up Staying Up”
This is pure chant territory: rhythmic, triumphant, almost liturgical. It’s the sound of 30,000 people on the terraces in May, scarves aloft, believing in Premiership survival. It’s operatic, defiant, soaked in decades of Yorkshire optimism-against-the-odds. It’s the emotional peak.
The immediate, brutal plummet
“- OR ARE WE unlikely unless we replace DF asap” In half a second we crash from collective ecstasy into petty, neurotic, language.
Give that boy a cigar for resurecting a long forgotten figure of speach... if only his choice of topics held the same profundity.

Re: i would sell these players next month to allow funds to buy
I mean he's barely played
But if we stay up this season it will probably be wise for both him, and for us, for him to go so that he can get some game time - since Farke clearly doesn't rate him in the prem. No point getting rid of him this transfer window since we'll need him next season if we get relegated
We won't get much for Meslier or Harrison but both can go in my view

Spoken like an intellectual giant renowned for his debating skills and witty repatee, making gleeful and caustic comments that Oscar Wilde would be proud of.
Sarcasm is a form of verbal irony where a speaker says the opposite of what they actually mean... just to make sure you understood that you were not being complimented.
And 5 poos were a bit of an overkill, but it sort of reflects something of your cackling kindergarten character... little bit of alliteration for you.

In some ways though 5 poos are better than 1. If you were walking down the street, or road if you prefer, and you spotted a few poos then you would be very careful and give them a wide berth. If there was only 1 poo you may not see it and inadvertently, or at least I hope it would be inadvertently, might end up stepping it it.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 11:39 am Spoken like an intellectual giant renowned for his debating skills and witty repatee, making gleeful and caustic comments that Oscar Eilde would be proud of.

Sean_Nile & Pjm engaging in a war of wits and words is a.....cruel mismatch.

Harrisson would be top of the list.
Mes but I think he will sit it out and go on a free in the Summer.
I think Wober is still on the books. Would take a few quid off the table in that case. Same for Joseph.

I claim the victory with 3 figure of speeches to 1 though I am not sure pjm even knew bathos existed.
I think he scored an own goal there.
