Our Football Competitions - A big thank you!

Post by 1964white »

Football Competitions

Average amount of players participating in the competitions.

35 Correct Score/First Scorer

24 Last Man Standing

21 Next Six Games

20 Predict 6

18 Guess The Crowd

15 Total Premier League Goals

Why is there such a variance?

I'm in none of them if that helps

I do guess the crowd out of respect for Norm who started it

I don't do predict 6 or Total prem goals because I have no idea who is in the league unless they play us, so have no interest

Last man standing I do as I get knocked out in the 1st round usually
Goals and scorer I do to be awkward and usually try to buck the popular trend
next 6 games I do the same
Hopelessly lost.................. But making good time

I play in all of those, plus most of the Horse Racing ones, with the exception of the Last Man Standing one.

No idea why there is a variance, await others opinions.

Last Man Standing probably spends less time on the front page, but surprisingly is our second most popular competition, threads dropping off page one is usually the kiss of doom.

Whereas I'm constantly updating the Correct Scorer/First Scorer & the easiest competition to play Total Prem Goals, IMO, would be lucky to attract 10 participants let alone the average of 15 players who play it, if I didn't promote it so much.

You could do a poll for the reasons there is such a variance…

I only play Correct Scorer First Scorer as it adds to the pre-match excitement, thinking about our squad selection and our opposition's strengths and weaknesses.

For what they're worth, 64 ....my thoughts would be that CS/FS comes out top as it's the most LUFC specific.

LMS, comes second as it is a quick/easy pick...not much effort required and same with NSG in 3rd spot

P6 requires a bit more thought (but alot more time to work out and update  ) every week.

In all honesty GTC is a bit of a lightweight in the football comp stakes.

(As we're only to aware though they all take a degree of time and effort for you/John and myself to do)

You might move the foot of the Predict 6 table if you actually posted up some predictions :)

Yes Cat, CS/FS & Predict 6 are the most complex/time-consuming competitions.

Prem Goals & Guess the Crowd should be attracting more participants.

I try to take part in them all (as I think they are great 👍)
The only reason I don't take part in all the competitions mentioned each week is my memory 🫢
It's an age thing, but now you mention it, I will try harder 😂

I do them all except predict 6.
Usually wait to see the team before I do correct score, first scorer

I do them all when I remember, which isn't every week, I'll admit. Can't speak to the variance, but I'm guessing disinterest, start but drift away or else get into the habit of doing it. Or not, as the case may be. Is what it is, Leon, and no reflection on the effort that you and others put in with the comps.
