A steady 6 as we didn't lose the game.

I’ve gone 6, last season we’d have lost all three points.

Even when we’re not at our best there’s more of a defensive solidity about us this season.

Not great, not disastrous and came away with a point after being largely second best.

5 for me.

One fantastic move from the back to front involving seven of our players was all we had to cheer about offensively.

We never really got going in the way we know Leeds can perform.

I wavered between five and six, but ultimately went with six (average).

Defensively we were excellent, but our midfield (apart from Ampadu) was pretty much bereft.

Palace had scored twelve goals in their last four games in all competitions and we kept them scoreless. Excellent defending.

It would seem a vital PL point as well as a clean sheet is starting to become under appreciated by some.

To me though that isn't what the poll is about.

Those are outcomes.

The poll is about how we performed as a team.

We performed poorly, hence is so much praise for last ditch blocks from Amps or Tarik or Trafford or whoever.

If the team performed well those don't happen.

The outcomes happened because individuals saved us last moment, the actual overall performance being poor made that a necessity

Thats how I see these performance polls anyhow

Yes but you have to perform as a team to keep the clean sheet and those last ditch tackles and saves by our keeper are all part of it.

Without the collective will we lose that game.

I'd disagree

Without the intervention of individuals at those moments the team had performed poorly as a collective to allow those situations.

A good team performance (like Newcastle) negates those moments as a collective

A poor one allows those moments relying then on an individual to bail the team out.

Flipping it around say we draw 0-0 but we create multiple great chances but miss whilst giving away nothing

The team did its job as a collective to limit and create chances but individuals didn't do the part they are meant to.

So to me that's a higher score despite the result being the same

Again yes and that's why most scored the Newcastle performance as an 8 or 9.

This performance was pretty average so therefore a 6 and we still could have nicked it had DCL tucked our best chance away.

Scoring it as a 4 means we were poor which seems overly harsh to me as did keep a clean sheet and picked up a valuable point. Of course that's absolutely fine as it's all about differing opinions but my main point was that we now seem to score the team low when not winning with the Brentford game being another good example.

Fair enough

For me "performance" poll isn't actually really linked to the result.

We could play awfully, be bailed out by Trafford saves or last ditch tackles multiple times and nick a last minute penalty and I'd still score that a 4 or 5 for example.

Likewise we could play amazingly, miss multiple chances and lose I'd still score that 7-8.

Palace to me was a poor all round performance whereby we'd probably lose with that type of performance maybe 6,7 times out of 10.

6 for me.

A team performance is rarely going to see all 11 play really well. Sometimes, say the Newcastle match, because of the result people judge individual performances higher whereas maybe 6 of the team did really well.

You then have another match and maybe 6 players do really well but those 6 may involve the keeper and 2 or 3 defensive players. As such the same amount of players performed really well but because of their roles the overall outcome is different.

For example Trafford did better v Palace than v Newcastle. Some of the defenders getting those last ditch tackles in performed better v Palace - though likely they would recieve lower ratings because of the result.

So 6 for me with the defensive players outshing our attacking players this match.

Now I get you don't consider the result important when evaluating the overall performance and I definitely agree that were weren't at our best against Palace. However when a team keeps a clean sheet you can't lose the game and whilst individual tackles etc are certainly important it's still generally accepted that it's a team effort to not concede over a 90 minute match. In fact it's only our second clean sheet of the PL season so I'd say that's something worth appreciating.

I understand that.

But to me if you just judge a performance on the outcome will never be any difference between the performance in the same results.

A game that ends 0-0 would be marked the same regardless of how it went.

A 0-0 where we have 25 shots, 12 on target, opposite goalie turned into prime Buffon and Trafford was having a kip all game will get the same score as the totally opposite scenario.

Where we conceded the shots, Trafford had a worldie etc
