Predict the Premier League 2020/21 (Finishing Positions)
Well having finally found our way back to the top tier how are we going to get on ?????
Kicking off on Saturday 12th September, with our first match a somewhat tricky opener away at Anfield
The bookies have us in and around the likes of Wolves, Everton and Leicester as potential PL winners. Is that realistic in our first season back ???
Competition

Points awarded as follows
5pts - team finishing in correct position
2pts - team finishing within one place of predicted finish
10pts - predicting LUFC's correct finishing position
Bonus points - 5pts for each:
team finishing top
team finishing bottom
All entries to be submitted by mid-day Saturday 12 September 2020
Teams in alphabetical order:
1. Arsenal
2. Aston Villa
3. Brighton
4. Burnley
5. Chelsea
6. Crystal Palace
7. Everton
8. Fulham
9. Leeds United
10. Leicester City
11. Liverpool
12. Manchester City
13. Manchester United
14. Newcastle United
15. Sheffield United
16. Southampton
17. Tottenham Hotspur
18. West Bromwich Albion
19. West Ham United
20. Wolverhampton Wanderers
(if you can put the nos. 1 - 20 when posting your predicted table I'd be grateful, as it makes a lot easier when working it out )
Prize: there isn't one !!........just the grudging respect of your MOT friends

Re: Predict the Premier League 2020/21 (Finishing Positions)
I'm going to wait a bit before posting. If de Paul signs I'm going to pick us one or two places higher.
I will, of course, pick Brighton to be relegated.

Re: Predict the Premier League 2020/21 (Finishing Positions)
Good idea Cat. Sorry I have often bumped up the other competitions prior to the opening of the new season.
My advice to other comp organisers is they should do the same as I have no intention of looking after the other comps throughout the season unless there is a problem & I am asked to do so!
Jill & I intend to post up our predictions this week mate

Re: Predict the Premier League 2020/21 (Finishing Positions)
1. Liverpool - No English team can touch them right now. Champions again, though they won't do it before Winter Solstice this time.
2. Manchester City - I envision a more fired-up and competitive Man City to push Liverpool harder this season.
3. Arsenal - Arteta seems to be getting a grip on his team now. I think they'll overachieve after going on a great streak mid-season.
4. Tottenham Hotspur - Mourinho to show he's got a few surprises left up his sleeve by pipping Rogers and Nuno to 4th.
5. Wolverhampton Wanderers - Nuno to do even better this season, 5th on GD courtesy of putting a few crap teams to the sword.
6. Leicester City - To do well but ultimately return to mean a bit after overachieving last season.
7. Chelsea - Lampard to suffer a horrible string of results in new year after doing well initially, proven to be out of his depth.
8. Leeds United - Suffer a bit to start with but will gather momentum as the season progresses. A key signing to come in Jan.
9. Manchester United - Ole to lose the dressing room, plummet down the table, get sacked in Jan. Replacement steadies things.
10. Everton - To have a better season than last but overall average.
11. Burnley - Sean Dyche to be Steady Eddy again.
12. Sheffield United - The sheen to be taken off last season. Reality to bite. Still capable but a position more reflective of quality.
13. Crystal Palace - Good start, crap in the middle and a strong finish. Typical modern Palace.
14. Southampton - Finished last season strongly but a stronger league will punish them harder this time. Not too hard though.
15. West Bromwich Albion - Just enough quality to survive if they keep Pereira. Bilic's experience to show.
16. Newcastle United - Narrow escape. To finish 2pts above drop zone, slightly superior GD to West Ham.
17. West Ham United - Internal unrest to grow throughout the season, culminating in a near miss with an end-season collapse.
18. Brighton - Lacklustre throughout the season, team disjointed and unmotivated. White to rue signing new contract.
19. Aston Villa - Chickens come home to roost. They will spend big in Jan to stop the inevitable, all in vain.
20. Fulham - Parker out of his depth, sacked before Jan and replaced with Pardew to save ink money on the programmes.

Moth, I’m almost inclined to give you extra marks for showing your workings out
It’s like a maths exam paper, you can pick up marks for your workings out, even if ultimately the answer is incorrect !

Never understood that line of thought, you know. It's like saying the Challenger shuttle was a partial success because it managed to get off the ground...Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 4:07 pm It’s like a maths exam paper, you can pick up marks for your workings out, even if ultimately the answer is incorrect !
But I appreciate the sentiment.
