Luton Town are the visitors to Elland Road midweek as Leeds look to strengthen their position at the top of the Championship, going into the Christmas period. Along with Sunderland and Sheffield Utd, the Whites are averaging two points per game but lead the division by goal difference. They are joint second in the form guide (to Millwall), alongside Boro and Sheffield Utd on 13 points from the last six games.

Luton's win against Hull at the weekend relieved some pressure on Rob Edwards, and more importantly saw them climb to 16th in the table. They have leaked 26 goals this season so far; only Plymouth and Portsmouth have conceded more. Saturday's win was the fifth time this season Luton have kept a clean sheet. They will have to be on their 'A game' to keep out a Leeds side who have netted 28 times this campaign; only Boro have scored more (29).





The last time these two sides met was the 19/20 season Championship winning season. They drew at Elland Road, curtesy of a Stuart Dallas equaliser but won at Kenilworth Road earlier in the season with goals from Bamford, and a last minute Matty Pearson own goal doing the damage.

With Junior Firpo suspended, boss Daniel Farke may opt to hand a rare start to Max Wober rather than risk Sam Byram starting two matches in four days. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell will continue to deputise for Messrs Ampadu and Gruev whilst Josuha Guilavogui should also pick up minutes. After his injury time winner, Wilfred Gnonto is pushing for a place in the starting line-up, though it's going to be difficult to dislodge either Solomon or James after their endeavours! Joel Piroe risks being dropped after a poor performance against his former club at the weekend.

Rob Edwards is likely to field a similar starting line-up from the side who beat Hull at the weekend, with Jordan Clark coming back from suspension to replace Shandon Baptiste who has picked up a knock being the only likely forced change.

Problem starting Wober at full back is he isn't a wing back. We'd lose a lot of attacking potential down the left especially as Solomon is an inverted winger. We don't need to be that defensive unless we play 3 across the back and Farke doesn't change systems

I'd stick with Byram as he can at least get forward and be a threat

I'm not convinced that Wober fits our system as a LB. Just an emergency back up. Center back (obviously) and defensive mid.

I think Byram was subbed knowing he'll have to start again on Wednesday

Farke has shown a bit more willingness to rest and rotate this season, especially in 3 game weeks. So I think we'll see a couple of changes on Wednesday and a couple on Saturday.

Byram/Firpo takes care of itself

Gnonto was apparently rested yesterday so I think he'll start on Wednesday

Jospeh will start one game this week and probably Piroe for the other two

No need to rest Rodon and Strujik. And no obvious replacements for Bogle, Tanaka, Rothwell, or Aaronson.

Yeah. But Farke likes a lot of sameness. I could only see that if there was an injury or suspension.

I think you've been among a few of us suggesting Guilavogui/Tanaka. But that Guilly is probably still a bit short of starting fitness.

At Swansea, we had Aarronson, Solomon and James all attacking from the left wing. Byram did alright at left-back, but I think Wober is better, and we need to get him integrated.

I said no need to rest them because they're center backs. Distance covered stats would show they cover nowhere near as much ground as the full backs and forwards.

Off topic but what about the German Christmas Market? Apart from the bleeding obvious-no Germans, the entire thing is nothing short of theft. Cheap tat and dodgy food at hugely inflated prices with the Council making a huge profit from everyone!

They charge the German market for being there, and charge us, the tax payers for putting on a festive production.
