Trafford based on he’s looked good at his other clubs and so far looks good for us.

I went for Green as the second half of his one season with us he was fantastic. Trafford of course is likely to do better but can't really vote for him basedon 6 matches, despite how well he has done and how highly I rate him.

And me too!
I can't remember feeling so comfortable with a goalie behind our defence.

I'd love to know our fan's choices.
For example, who voted for Meslier?

Voted for Rob Green, thought he was a real safe pair of hands during his stint between our sticks.
Couldn't vote for James Trafford after so few games, but he does fill me with confidence and I'm sure the defence will become even more settled given time.
Just one concern for me is keeping hold of the ball (at his feet) a little too long when being closed down, it could be him and the defenders getting to know one another, making the right angle for a pass etc.

I put other, then realised its just over a shade 20 yrs since we let the irreplaceable Nigel Martyn go whilst fat blobinson let us down, so for me it has to Trafford, purely based on what he will become, green and schmiechel were ok in the championship.

Re: Best Goalkeeper over the last 20 years - Poll of the Day (24th Sept)
Meslier was our keeper for two promotions and 3 seasons in the prem for the most part. He has on that basis IMO qualified as our best keeper for the last 20 years. Incidentally, I did not vote for him I have just seen this poll, but I can see why someone has.
Perhaps if the question was framed around the most talented, best ceiling etc then that is a different question. As previously alluded to Trafford has only played 6 games for us thus far, therefore for me he is not even in the running currently.
Who has been our best captain for the last 20 years is an interesting debate.

Not me this time....
I voted Casper.... it was between him and Green for me.....
Trafford has not been here long enough.... No doubt he will get all the votes at the end of the season, but at the moment, too soon....
So who voted the Froggie bean pole??
Hopelessly lost.................. But making good time

I voted for Meslier,
I fully expect Trafford to become our best keeper (possibly best ever), but as has already been said, it's ridiculous to say he's already done enough in six games. Obviously Farke ruined Meslier in the end, but he was world class under Bielsa, and that period alone is enough to put him ahead of anyone else on the list.

I went for Kasper with honourable mention for Rob Green.
Trafford has been brilliant, it's only been 5 games is it?
I'm sure most of those goalies had a good 4,5 game spell as well, too early

Is one of my upcoming polls over next few weeks during the international games.DDB220 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2026 10:51 am Meslier was our keeper for two promotions and 3 seasons in the prem for the most part.
