The big "surprise" and subject of a LOT of discussion among USA supporters is that Aaronson was named as a Midfielder not a Forward. Much speculation on formations, tactics, and selection. It must be noted that Brenden played the #8 role in our recent friendly match against Morocco.

Tyler Adams will be the very first name on the team sheet. He is our most important player.

How Maguire and Shaw get the nod is an absolute mystery, both are playing terrible and Maguire can't even get in thye Man Utd side.
This is a common fault with Southgate and the way he chooses the squad. Earn your place, not just be given it through some sort of past performance.

Luxury of a 26 man squad. Southgate needs him. Only has Rice and Bellingham for 2 starting positions. Henderson not worth much any more. Phillips did play 40 minutes last night. I'm sure Southgate will try to get him back to fitness off the bench.

Assuming it's still 5 subs at the world cup which will give him a little more leeway.

I guess it depends on your definition of prolific. In 306 matches over 9 seasons with Spurs he scored 122 goals. That's 40% of his games. At LA Galaxy he scored 104 goals in 165 matches over 6 seasons. That's 63% of his matches. Both stats reflect all competitions.

Interestingly, Keane's best goalscoring year for Ireland was 2011. (10 games, 8 goals). He started that season with Spurs, moved to West Ham on loan in then moved to LA Galaxy on a permanent transfer. But he only played a total of 21 games at club level in 2011. Which goes to your point that club form doesn't always indicate International form.
