Indeed. Just cos a player has a release clause that doesn't mean a team will not accept less. Hadi Sacko had something like an £80m release clause with his Portugese club. Many clubs simply stick the release clause in so they have a starting point for negotiations when the player leaves. I believe Pedro is valued at around the £20m mark.

Sacko joined on loan with a monster €60 million release clause in his contract, although this was soon explained away as a standard thing for Portuguese teams to do as a form of protection. In the end, Leeds United got their man for just 3.33% of that huge figure – Sacko signing on for just €2 million (£1.7 million).

Think he would have been a fantastic player for us if Liam Cooper hadn't bullied him so much.
