Messi is the best player in the world by a country mile, France are nowt special, this age of football has been nowt special, we have had the best chance to win a WC twice now and a footballing disgrace against Italy in the Euro final, an aging Giroud that finished with Chelsea yonks back and hardly gets a game for his current side finished our plebs off.

These are some of the worst teams from Germany, Italy, Spain etc i have ever witnessed and to have them all collectively ordinary when one of them is usually special will probably never happen again in my lifetime, the last few years have been our turn to shine and we put a useless prick in charge who's done sweet fa and never will have it in him to play someone decent off the park.

I did, just not biased or crying about the ref like everyone else. England are an average team who get beat by the first good team they face, as always happens.

In my lifetime, Brazil, Argentina, Italy and Germany have all been much better than England. Just a different level. And in recent decades France and Spain have moved into that category too. For England to do well they need all of them to be weak in the same tournament. I can't think of a tournament where they've all been off. Belgium and Croatia are England level.

Croatia are levels above England. They've only existed 30 years and have a WC final and 3 semi finals. England have one semi in that timeframe.

I'd say England are a Switzerland. Always qualify and usually make it out the group, but not a top contender.

Can't knock Kane for missing the penalties. It's a percentage thing. He's put so many away and was bound to miss at some point. In fairness it must be tough against your club keeper who's seen you take hundreds of penalties in training. Even tougher stepping up for a second penalty.

What now? New manager. I'll be happy if Southgate continues. He's done well at tournaments. This generation of England plyers is as good as I've seen. The Beckham era had better players but they never figured out how to play together. This is a good group.

There's a lot to build on going forward - Bellingham, Foden, Saka have their whole careers in front of them.

So unlucky England, fairly even 1st half, their goal shouldn’t have stood due to an obvious foul on Saka, and we were denied an obvious penalty when Kane had his legs taken from under him. Better team 2nd half by a fair margin, all in all deserved to win. Sh#t referee again, didn’t have a clue (or was he following orders?). Where do they get these idiots from? So disappointed, could and should have won that game, it’s like watching Leeds with corrupt referees and officials - shocking! We’ve been stuffed again as usual. Grrrrrrr!

I'm English and I agree, apart from the Croatia bit. The ref was so bent England had two penalties. Kane and Saka dive every week in the PL and the ref wasn't falling for it. You can't complain about Portugal etc and turn a blind eye when Sterling, Kane and Saka dive. It's embarrassing seeing them doing it in England shirts.
