They never learn! Until we find a Modric type midfielder, we're not winning owt.

We need a new defence as well. Tomori should be in ahead of Madire, he's had his chance now.

I don't really see a top striker on the horizon either. Looking at the u21s, none of them are good enough.

NZ have a similar population breakdown to England and thats not stopped Kiwis holding sway on a rugby field with both codes.

As I posted earlier, a world-class spine & coach required to our set-up.

N Ireland are the perpetual owners of the British Home Nations Championship having won it four times compared to Englands paltry, er fifty four times
NI won it last and kept the cup.

Can England say that?

We looked good going forward.
But our defence let in two goals in open play...France didn't need penalties.
Pickford should not have been beaten for the first goal, and Maguire should have prevented Giroud getting on the end of the cross for the second goal.

Rice was at fault for the first goal, diving in like a lunatic creating space and then ball watching. Bellingham should've closed down Tchouameni as well rather than let him get a shot off.

We need a striker because Kane didn't play striker yesterday... dunno if it was his natural game or GS tactics but he sat way too deep and missing when needed when we had in the box chances.

Kane won't play in the 2026 World Cup, he'll be 33yo if he is selected for the 2024 Euros.

Here's a post that all you lot who hate me can get your teeth into. Reach for that 'Report' button and get me banned! Go on, you know you want to.

Saka is a very good footballer, and there is no question that he is World Cup material. Last night's game came alive whenever he got the ball. The dog fell asleep. Then, just as the dog was snoring loud enough to wake the cows in the fields and I drifting off too, Saka got the ball and it was like an electric jolt. Oh wait, England's only world class player has got the ball. Something might happen now.

But here's the thing: Saka is not English. He could be the best player in the world and guarantee us trophies, but he will never be English, so it's all cynical and fake.

I am one of Daniel Defoe's True Born Englishmen, I have a bit of something in me from different parts of the British Isles, but I am an Englishman. Yet I wanted England to lose last night. It's not that I enjoyed watching France beat us, and I certainly wouldn't tolerate it from the Germans, but that was only a team called England. It's not the real England. Sorry, some of those players are not English.

Bukayo Saka is Nigerian. He was born in England, but he is not English or European. Why isn't he playing for Nigeria?

Maybe another ethnic white European who has assimilated, a Frenchman or German, or Canadian, or New Zealander, etc. who has been brought up in England, or has genuine ties to England or Britain, could regard England as his first loyalty. That I can potentially accept or condone as a one-off now and then. It should only be allowed reluctantly, after dour committee meetings in which old men in dark suits mutter and grumble before a crusty old chairman with a broad Lancashire accent says, 'Well, we don't like Germans really, but I suppose we can make an exception on this occasion, but I'm really not sure about it all....Well anyway...very well'

An Irishman, Scotsman, Ulster-Scotsman, Welshman, etc.. Fine, some prefer to play for England. That's acceptable or condonable.

But a black African is not an Englishman and never can be and never will be if we sat here for a hundred years. It just is what it is. He is disqualified from consideration ab initio. Is that fair? Of course not, but life isn't fair. Some things are supposed to be beyond money, ability and connections. One of those things should be nationality, which should be based on ancestry and ethnicity.

I find it difficult to 'feel' anything when I watch England play because the team includes black Africans who are only 'British' by legislative fiat. It's not that I dislike black Africans. I neither like nor dislike them. It's a matter of wanting to see my own nation play on an honest basis, win or lose. I prefer to lose with a team of mediocre Englishman who give it their all and even make me cry, rather than win with some bought and borrowed team that effectively amounts to a Premier League Star XI.

It's one thing to have the odd player like John Barnes or Paul Ince. It's not ideal, but I can turn a blind eye to that. John Barnes played two of the greatest games I have seen from an England player: one against Brazil, the other against Argentina in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final. I despise those England fans who mocked him, whether due to racism or otherwise. Paul Ince was a great player, in my opinion. But neither were Englishman - unfortunately. I could rouse myself for Paul Ince, though, because he was a blood and guts player. You could see it in his eyes, his facial expressions, he put everything he had into every minute of every game he wore an England shirt.

But Paul Ince isn't English. I loved him, and I would have him play for England any day of the week, but it's cynical to pretend that he is something that he isn't.

A talented young player like Saka ought to feel proud that he's Nigerian and should want to play for Nigeria. Nigeria should have the benefit of his talent and he should be playing for them in the World Cup and scoring against England!

The situation has now come to a head, in my opinion. Nobody discusses it because it's not politically-correct, but it should be discussed. It's fake, false and cynical and this is my protest against it!

Now, if you want to ban me, go ahead. I will not 'take the knee', and no man wearing an England shirt should ever kneel to anybody.

If I'm still a member of this Forum tomorrow, I may post some reasons why I think we play badly and why we lost last night.

At least England won't have an easy qualifying group in 2024 for a change, so it might humble the media and players a bit to have to work for it. Bit worried about the Ukraine as they'll be galvanised by the war.

Kane's been done for a long time, just been carried by penalties. I do wonder who is the next striker? Wilson and Toney are both average and Abraham is decent but not a superstar.

Nketiah not good enough, neither are Delap or Brewster.

Or if we hired a manager who was able to get us playing a way that made us so much better than the individual talent we had so that we could punch above our weight - oh hang on we got rid of him.

England's biggest need is a coach who can make them play a way to get the best out of the unbelievable talent we have. We have the players to play like Spain but we also have the players with the cutting edge that Spain simply didn't have (the ability to go past a player or play a quality pass in the final third of the pitch).

People will point to Southgate's record of getting us 'deep' into tournaments but who have we actually beat that has been any good? Yes we've done well beating the poorer teams (and we have seen in this world cup especially that so called big teams can lose to the 'no-hopers') but for me that has been down to the individual quality we possess rather than the team playing well. Against Iran I don't think it would have been 6-0 but for their keeper going off at 0-0 - their back-up was awful. Against USA we played like a bunch of individuals. Against Wales and we beat another poor team. Against Senegal and the difference was we took our chances. The media, and end scoreline, made it look like a comprehensive victory but we could easily have gone behind and it could have been a very different match.

A bit like Belgium we will squander the talent by employing a coach that isn't anywhere near top level.

I keep hearing about this so called "talent" but they never turn up against the big boys. Maybe they're just not that good? 🤔

And I don't rate Snoregate, so not making excuses for him. England just aren't as good as the fans and media hype them up to be.

The born in England is the key part, nothing else matters. I assume he got educated here, mates are British... We're maybe the most ethnically diverse country on earth, London is certainly the most ethnically diverse city on the planet and I love it. The more the merrier..... If Saka feels British and wants to play for England more power to him.

My dad was born in /india as were his parents and their parents going back to the mid to late 1800's. I'm first generation English also, going back 150 yrs we're Scottish.

No clue what you mean by situation. What situation?
