Petition not to ban Sockerist. I for one find his efforts to grab attention and be edgy on an anonymous forum hilarious.

Always thought Harry Potter was more of a magician than a manager though
Oh, I get it now, you mean Brian Potter the Phoenix Club manager, fair play he's done a great job there

Racist prick.
Saka was born in Ealing and has lived his entire life in England. He's as much an Englishman as you or anyone else.

Yes the one who took a lot of lower level players and transformed then into so much more - like you say though sometimes they won't play to the level he had raised them too. Imagine though what he could have done if the players he inherited were a lot better.
That is why England needs to get a better manager. The likes of Luke Ayling, Cooper etc were capable of getting wins and playing well at times before he came and made them far better far more often. England will win games irrelevant of the manager, there is enough individual talent to do that. Imagine though what a good manager would do to the group of english players.

Re: Qatar World Cup 2022. England v France
I think England would be unwise to change manager. Southgate has done what very few England managers have ever managed to.
Create a stable environment for the players to give their best.
While England haven't had a talisman in a Neymar or Mbappe they will have in Bellingham and Saka in the years to come.
Tactically he has been pretty much spot on given the strengths and weaknesses of the player pool.
I know he is easy to criticize but England have come the closest in a generation to honours with him steadying the ship.
Also the alternatives aren't great.
Potter and Howe will not go near the job in the next World Cup cycle and seeing that a non English manager will not be acceptable who does that leave to recruit from?
Cooper?
Rooney?
Lampard?
Gerrard?
Be careful what you wish for folks.

It's just because you said we'd win trophies under Bielsa, but he never showed any intention of winning the cups when he was here.weasel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 12:43 am Yes the one who took a lot of lower level players and transformed then into so much more - like you say though sometimes they won't play to the level he had raised them too. I'm just bored of the excuses and the usual "proud of the lads" crap we see once England are eliminated, especially after all the boasting about how we should be feared, no one gets in our team etc beforehand.
Funny how Morocco have beaten Belgium, Spain and Portugal in the same tournament. If England are as good as everyone says they are they should be able to beat at least one top side.

Be careful what you wish for? He's relegated England, not beaten a top side and picks the same failures every match and never tries anything different, even in friendlies or against San Marino. He'll stay in the job as his mates in the media overhype him, like they do Lampard and Gerrard.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 7:47 am I think England would be unwise to change manager. Re: Qatar World Cup 2022. England v France 7pm
I think it boiled down to priorities and obviously in the seasons MB was in charge the priority was the league. I would have thought/hoped that if we had got to the point where we had become a fairly secure premier league side then we'd have looked to do better in the cups or at least take them more seriously. Don't forget the Arsenal performance in the FA Cup though when we went to their place and outplayed them in the first half and could, and should, have been 2 or 3 goals up at half time before losing to a very scruffy Arsenal goal in the second half. We were a far inferior group of players but in that first half were by far the better team. That reflects the point I am making about getting the best out of a team but how with the calibre of players at England's disposal a good coach can take great individual and create a great team (like Pep at City in comparison to how MU have failed despite spending the same amount of money).SG90 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:29 am It's just because you said we'd win trophies under Bielsa, but he never showed any intention of winning the cups when he was here.

Would Pep do better than GS if he was in charge of England? Would GS do better than Pep if GS was in charge of Man City (or previously Bayern or Barca)?
GS has done a great job in terms of building a happy squad and a good sense of togetherness etc. But it still smacks of picking a formation, picking the players and then hoping for the best rather than us playing as a team with cohesion and a way that makes us even better.

Fact is he took you to a WC semi where you lost by an odd goal and a Euro final where you lost on pens.
You complain about picking the same players but which one of them had a bad tournament.
England fans are a funny lot.

Next time...More than any other time... next time....We'll get it right.
Come on Morocco. I have had some great Hashish from over there back in the eighties. So for that reason alone.....
Gareth Southgate.... Social justice warrior, Doctor, Father and occasional tactically poor Football manager. There is only one English man left for the Job. Warnock not Stephen.

In your opinion no one cares. If England want to start winning trophies, then they need to build a winning mentality and beat the top sides. Funny how France and Portugal have won major trophies recently but don't disrespect the Nations League and see it as a trophy. Just the usual English arrogance.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 12:28 pm no one gives a toss about that nations comp.

In my lifetime England have always been quarters at best. The only difference is Southgate had to face Sweden and Ukraine in the quarters. His luck ran out this time as we had France.
