I thought we defended better today. Just two soft late consolations. The clean sheet would've been nice.

Not so. Cardiff had very few attacks tonight and still could have had three goals had Rinomhota not been in that ludicrous position. As I say they’ve only scored 21 goals in 27 games in the Championship and have scored 4 in 2 games against us and could quite easily have been 5 in 2 games. At this rate we are going to have to score at least 3, 4 or 5 goals to win a game.

So if AS & BW are playing next Tuesday 24th, and it goes to a replay, when will our 4th round tie be played?

Just back, felt like a pre-season friendly in the ground (or mid season friendly v Real Sociedad / Monaco).

Cardiff were simply outclassed, especially by Gnonto, then we bring on Bamford who I thought took his goals very well. I really do like Adams, just makes everything look so simple.

A win is a win, and a confidence booster, but we will have to defend better on Sunday.

I agree, but Ayling fooked up for their first, and I think the pen was harsh to say the least, the ball travelled maybe 2 feet before it touched his arm, would we have got it against a top 6 side?

It was ruled out because it was offside! Meslier catches that comfortably otherwise.

Totally agree, he was stood in his line of sight on purpose, the dark art of cheating, or rather try to bend the rules.

Great to see Klichy getting a proper ovation pre- kickoff, and the crowd singing his song just before the final whistle.

We can’t go from where we’ve been to spot on even against a Championship side.

Before the game 2-1 would have done me.

Our attacking options have gone from a winger at number nine to an almost embarrassment of riches, seemingly overnight.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said about our back line.

Cardiff are the lowest scorers in the Championship with an average of .78 goals/game and yet they’ve scored 4 goals in just two matches against us. Obviously very happy with the win and delighted with 5 goals but still massively worried about our defence.
The one that scratched out for offside could have been given too

So happy to see Sinisterra come in. That's going to be an immense forward line if we can get Gnonto and Sinisterra flanking Rodrigo or Bamford.

Agreed, we'd switched off a bit, the Ayling mess up was just bizarre. Couldn't even call it an error as no clue as to what he was trying to do and the pen came too late to worry about...

SG90 wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 9:41 pm 5-2 does take the shine off, but both goals came at the death. Need to learn to focus for the whole game. Hopefully that result builds confidence. Two great finishes from Bamford too. Firpo very good again, Gnonto running the show.

Nice to win in the FA Cup! First time in 6 years!
Been saying for a long time, Firpo is a good footballer often playing rusty, he has the pedigree, he's a lovely passer of the ball and the rest will come with game time. Has to start now for me.

As I mentioned yesterday, every one of our defenders are culpable of making daft errors, another one to add to the fiasco collection.

For the umpteenth time, Ayling is not a CB, although any defender should be dealing with that ball comfortably.

I'm sure a minority will be blaming Marsch for Luke's mess-up & Roca's handball.... who would be a manager?
